Many thanks in advance Shawn

hi simon, the plotting order is usually controlled but the order you put down (draw) the graphics on the page, e.g. if you draw a line then a circle then a word and save the plotter will cut the line first then the circle then the word and so on, so whatever is first to hit the illustrator page is cut first and last to be drawn is cut last, hope this helps, if you want certain order start new page and copy and paste each object you want cut onto new page in order you want them to cut in, regards shawn

MemberMarch 28, 2016 at 9:16 am in reply to: putting graphtec cutter in van advice pleasehi colin thats sounds good, I’m looking to put the same sort of thing in rear of mine, do you run them of 12v or inverter?, I’m buying a mwb high roof vw crafter so good room to stand up in, I’ve got a couple of hippies i know who are quoting to fit it out as would like it done to last and also to look the part in front of clients, thinking of using brackets kevin recommended as they look like good solid brackets, a lot of my clients are in same sort of trade so when i pull up to do a job i often get people coming up to me saying could i book you in for this or that so would be nice to do while on site and take payment straight away saving time on future days, also looking into having a mobile chip and pin as at the moment i only use in office (can only take paypal payment mobile at the moment).

MemberMarch 28, 2016 at 5:30 am in reply to: putting graphtec cutter in van advice pleaseHi colin, no I have a lot of clients where I am working on a job and get asked to do other jobs there while I’m doing job so could do while I’m there with set up or if when fitting something tears can repair on site rather than go back that’s all really, so more of a timesaver on production and turnaround etc, cheers Shawn

MemberMarch 26, 2016 at 11:33 pm in reply to: putting graphtec cutter in van advice pleasethanks denise and robert, both great ideas, was leaning more to having the graphtec fixed and fold down table for taping on down one side then designing some u shaped ply to hold the vinyl rolls underneath, then a small fold out table for a laptop, picking up a mwb high roof vw crafter next saturday so just trying to get some ideas to kit it out, thanks for input will come in useful, been searching google for any fold down tables but a lot are to small so may go for bracket then fix a tabletop to them,

hi nick, i found exactly the same thing, it was shooting from back to front so i re put on the artwork in the order wanted it to cut and re saved and it now cuts in order, basically the first thing to land on the illustrator file is the first thing it will cut and last etc etc. hope this helps. roberts totally right, not sure if theres any workaround though.

I do the odd teardrop flag and found at an early stage in my business that it Is sometimes better to find a good trade supplier and get a trade price and put my margin on top, freed me up to do other jobs quicker and only had to supply artwork and job was done, just sat back and wait for complete unit arrived, I’m a small business so important to dedicate my time accordingly but different for all, hope this helps,

only my opinion but i find it invaluable and well worth the small fee,

MemberDecember 3, 2015 at 2:04 pm in reply to: Graphtec FC 8600 – can it work with the Roland XC540 Pro 3?hi david thanks for that, i use illustrator so can download the graphtec cutting master 3 no probs, i currently use the 2 version with my fc5100,
Before printing my artwork on the roland, how do i add the graphtec registration marks to my print? then run it through versa works, well confused lol?, also what is type 1 or type 2 ( sorry for ignorance only used to print and cut through versa works) cheers in advance shawn -
when i started out i used to get up around 5am and do all my design work till around 8am and found that i got so much more done than during the day, plus being a one man operation it freed up valuable time during the day to go out to clients and fitting etc, i must admit the more established i got and the busier i got i just worked longer and longer hrs :lol1:, most weekdays i regular work from 8am till 12-1am (in-between dropping and picking up my kids from school and clubs etc lol) i think working smart is good but sometimes sheer volume of work takes over and you end up working all the hrs you can, i must admit though 3pm on a friday and i down tools till sunday evening then all starts all over again. that said thumbs up for early mornings 5hrs work done in 3 hrs.

I’ve had to re scale to 50% of original size due to file size restrictions on site and zip it, but you should be able to re adjust your end with no probs, regards shawn

MemberMay 8, 2015 at 9:09 pm in reply to: Ice Cream Van Wrap – advice required, please?hi Dilwyn,
is it a permanent wrap your doing on van?, i deal a lot with ice cream vans so know a bit about them and have wrapped some walls vans for unilever, the van in question is a full cowl van and so is fibreglass from the doors back, if this is a permanent wrap then the ij380 is a good choice and its great for the recesses etc on the moulds, the trouble i had at first was the fibreglass not holding the post heat process after application due to the fibreglass cooling down quickly, just post heat it well and 380 should be fine, hope this helps, anything else let me know, -

MemberMay 3, 2015 at 8:21 pm in reply to: Roland SP or VP good for cutting? Advice needed, please?hi ewan, jason definitely has a good point, i used to out source my printing and just had my fc5100 for my cutting, now I’ve got a roland pro111 xc540 but would never sell my graphtec as i still do 90% of cutting on 610mm rolls and only use the printer if i need to use 1220mm rolls for wider jobs, printer tends to be continuously have vinyl printing (which is what you want) through it so easier to keep a separate cutter, only in my own experience and its what would suit you and your workloads, hope this helps,
-
