hi guys, just looking for some advice, just buying new van and looking to put my graphtec c5100 in there to do work on site if required, a friend of mine says its good to put it on rubber springs or something alike to save the motherboard of the machine vibrating when driving etc, has anyone got any good advice for this and if so how would you attached it etc, also anyone know of any good companies or chippies to build some bespoke racks and desktop etc in rear of van and would like it as mobile workshop, any advice appreciated, thanks in advance.

Our graphtec lived in the van, under a false floor.never had a problem with it in 4 years. We just used a sturdy plastic table for the cutter and another to weed and tape up. Not ideal but broke down in seconds so we can use the van for other things etc. Built in tables or racks limited the can imo

I would imagine sitting it on a bit of polystyrene would absorb any vibration. After all, this is what PC’s, TVs and so on are all delivered in by carriers and they get chucked about and banged more often than general travel vibration.

thanks denise and robert, both great ideas, was leaning more to having the graphtec fixed and fold down table for taping on down one side then designing some u shaped ply to hold the vinyl rolls underneath, then a small fold out table for a laptop, picking up a mwb high roof vw crafter next saturday so just trying to get some ideas to kit it out, thanks for input will come in useful, been searching google for any fold down tables but a lot are to small so may go for bracket then fix a tabletop to them,

subject to the van you have, hinge a 700mm sheet off the side of the van you can have hinged pull out legs to support it all folds away without really taking up any room

folding down you may have problems with wheel arches on your long table, link below is for brackets which you could use if you are clear of them not cheap but nice & neat just apply your work surface which you could get cut to size in local DIY store. Also look in IKEA they do fold up shelves ready made for you laptop etc. Saves money on carpenter & you will still get a nice job

Hi colin, no I have a lot of clients where I am working on a job and get asked to do other jobs there while I’m doing job so could do while I’m there with set up or if when fitting something tears can repair on site rather than go back that’s all really, so more of a timesaver on production and turnaround etc, cheers Shawn

    Hi Shawn
Thats a pretty good idea not sure i would have room in my van.
I have put an led set up in the back of my van, we do a reasonable amount of out of hours work and its so good. We just used some leds like you use for back illuminating letters double sided taped to the roof and spliced into the existing lighting circuit

hi colin thats sounds good, I’m looking to put the same sort of thing in rear of mine, do you run them of 12v or inverter?, I’m buying a mwb high roof vw crafter so good room to stand up in, I’ve got a couple of hippies i know who are quoting to fit it out as would like it done to last and also to look the part in front of clients, thinking of using brackets kevin recommended as they look like good solid brackets, a lot of my clients are in same sort of trade so when i pull up to do a job i often get people coming up to me saying could i book you in for this or that so would be nice to do while on site and take payment straight away saving time on future days, also looking into having a mobile chip and pin as at the moment i only use in office (can only take paypal payment mobile at the moment).

Shawn if you read Colin’s post he has just spliced then into the Vehicles existing lighting circuit. I would do that as well rather than run them off an inverter, that way you aren’t eating into the inverters output leaving more for running things like your plotter, laptop & anything else you may wish to run :lol1:
