So I get a call at 3am this morning, its the police sir we think your factory is on fire can you come down!!
We rush down to find 10 fire engines police, ambulances, hydraulic firefighting booms incident control units etc etc.

It seems that we may not have fire damage but have got water and smoke damage, and the building structure is unsafe – They are talking about demolishing the building with everything still inside it !!!!!

The unit next to us is a total loss as is the the next one along from that so I guess we are the lucky ones.

Thankfully all files backed up to the cloud (prompted by much discussion here thanks guys)

Temporary office in progress and trying to source some space now to set up workshop until we know the outcome.

Thankfully nobody was hurt and at the end of the day its just stuff

Makes you realise how important paperwork job bags etc are when you can no longer access them

    Definately a night to remember

I hope you get it sorted quickly, but knowing insurances it will take time.

Our building got hit by a big lorry it put a crack from top to bottom of the wall. Jan 2013

It took from end of January to October to get it sorted building wise via the insurance. If we had sorted out the repair work we could have done it in 6 weeks easily.

We are still owed back rent and utility costs for the flats above. We have not yet sorted out the loss of income side, the insurance keeps asking for various accounting from previous years as well as the years that have not yet been completed.

Even though it wasn’t our fault our building insurance has trembled, business interruption insurance has not, but as soon as they pay it proberly will.

Because there is an on going claim we cannot shop around as no one will touch us.

We have had the insurance person who we had meetings lying saying we accepted a figure so we wouldn’t claim for loss of rent….

May I suggest you video any meetings and record any phone conversations, as over a long period of time you forget what was said etc. Videos don’t forget or lie.

Sorry to hear about the fire. I cannot imagine the chaos it’s causing you.

Templates- 213 has double sliding doors & 209 single sliding door.

Both are the 09-15 LWB transporter.

What can i say Colin, gutted for you mate. Nothing worse! :shake:

I was in a similar situation a couple of years back. not to the scale of loss you are at but still.
We came back from a winter break to a burst ceiling pipe wrecking lots of PC’s, paperwork and all sorts. Took months to full recover. It is times like this you need to look at how you are setup for a crisis situation. Today we are pretty much cloud based for everything from software to paperwork now 90% gone! something for you to consider moving forward.

Best of luck getting back on your feet mate and if your stuck, we have a great community on the boards full of people i am sure only to willing to give some form of help if they can. myself included.

Picture of our next door neighbours unit attached, unfortunately looks like they wont trade again, they didnt have any insurance!

Brings it home to you just how vulnerable we all are.
