  • Reinstalled versaworks and cut contour not working? Help?

Posted by Dan Osterbery on June 18, 2015 at 11:47 am

    Hi All,
we have two computers that feed our printer both with versaworks. We have had to rebuild one of the computers and we have reinstalled versaworks. On the computer that was not rebuilt, i can make a cut contour, and versaworks reads the cut contour, but if i place the same file in the other versaworks it does not see the cut contour? What am i missing? Ive done a search but all that comes up is people struggling with transparencies and the cut contour. Any help appreciated.

    thanks

    Dan

Don’t know is it’s the same with versaworks, but with wasatch you have to have the process cutting paths box checked before you open the file otherwise it doesn’t see the cut path

If you go into the profile in media explorer there is a box which needs to be ticked which says allow cutting or something similar. Pretty sure that will solve it for you.

    HI Guys,
i have gone to media explorer, and hit the second button, media characteristics settings, then onto, cut controls, where there is a greyed out arrow, which is ticked which says enable cutting? Is this what you are referring too? Hope all is well Gary?

hi dan, you say u have re built your computer if so have you re installed the roland swatch cut contour colour (mines like a pink colour) into your program i.e. illustrator etc. as it will need this to cut (I’m sure u know that) just a thought or process of illumination. hope this helps.

    Hi Shawn,
unfortunately cut contour is installed and works on our other versaworks on 2nd computer! Strange one this! Cant seem to nail the problem. Roland Uk will no longer help us as they only support UK and Ireland now, so going to enter the fun that is roland spain today!

    thanks

Did you install Versaworks as Admin?
I’ve had fun with Versaworks on windows 8 64bit and eventually right clicked the link and made it run as admin. But there was a later version that cured the problem on install only I was to lazy to un-install then reinstall the later version.

Try asking on the Roland forum.

Not as yet Steve, too busy to fiddle about, we have it installed on two computers, so i am putting everything through on the one that works, and when our season ends next month will have some time to wrestle with it, and hopefully get it sorted. Will post what we did when i get it solved!

Open up Versaworks from edit menu, queue A properties, file format then adjust EPS margin to 2.00mm. I had the same problem on my install.

More information is available on the Roland forum under Versaworks.

I remember that one now, this getting older lark does things to you 😉
I set mine to 1mm for this reason.

    Hi guys,
thanks for your help! have tried 1mm and 2mm but still no luck! Have also tried ticking the special colour boxes and nothing! Could anyone send me a link to the roland forum please.

    cheers

Phew! Glad I found this post. Dan your problem is very similar to mine.

Running VersaWorks fine on one system then bought a new system and cannot get VW to recognize cut contours. I could create EPS files on new system, import to old system and VW would recognize the cut lines so I knew it wasn’t my EPS files. Even tried the opposite, bringing EPS files from the old sys to the new syst that I had already print and cut….no luck.

I followed Stephen’s advice and ran VW as admin and bang…cut lines are there! Thanks Stephen.

I’ll try to reinstall VW as admin when I’ve recovered from uninstalling and reinstalling 3-4 times in the last day. Until then I’ve set the VW shortcut to always run as admin (Always Run as an Administrator)

Wouldn’t have solved the problem without this post…thanks everyone! :praise1:
