Yeah thats right black and yellow as peter said. The only thing i can think of is that your customer has seen a badly printed version or one that had faded in the sunlight!

I have the disc but the layout is an old one which is not on there so was wondering if any of you had the older version with a an 01 layout rather than 05-08.

    Thanks

OK Ive just worked it out for anyone else who wants to know here’s the answer:

Firstly name one of your colours – CutContour

Secondly add a contour line using Cut > Contour Cut

Then select the colour you have just names as CutContour (n.b this name must be the same as above with Upper and Lower case)

Then go to File > Export save as Level 3 EPS

Load file in to versaworks and bobs your uncle you have a print and cut from signlab v7.1 or v8.00

    😀

    Hi everyone,

YAY I am extremely pleased to announce that I am FINALLY in my unit and have just started cutting and weeding on my new bench I will upload finished pics over the next few days its soo exciting to finally be able to do everything in the one room rather than spread out at home.

    Hi Ade,

I would normally charge the same way for standard vinyl installations as frosting – work out cost of vinyl, time for design, cut, weed and carry tape and then on-site time.

For that size you’d need 3m of 610 frosting for the job to allow of error.

Depends on design but if simple allow 30 minutes, then I would allow 2 hours for cutting and weeding (always over estimate for worst case scenario).

    Application of frosting 1 hour.

Total cost of vinyl round up to £10/meter to allow for profit = £30
Total time = 3 and half hours @ your hourly rate say £25 per hour
Total Cost to you = £117.50

It’s up to you weather you think the job is worth more than this based on your specific knowledge.

Note – if its an intricate design take a spare one as frosting is very brittle and can crease easily leaving unsightly line also APPLY WET!!

August 21, 2008 at 4:56 pm in reply to: how do i calculate banner weight in kilogrames?

    Hi Steve,

Thanks for your response, I managed to get the costs sorted – as I don’t buy the banner directly I didnt know about the weight etc (I get the banner media from another company and I simply provide the design they then produce the banner complete ready for collection)

Anyway I phoned Metamark and got the weight per m2 and calculated my costs very long process.

I’m not sure if the customer will buy from me as the postage alone is just over £200 with VAT – going to Germany with 2 day delivery deadline but I will wait and see.

    Thanks again

    Hi John,

Yes my unit is in The Paddock on the border between Chatham and Rochester, where are you based?

I currently work from my dining room and spare room so to have a proper workshop is going to be amazing, need to get the ceilings finished, the toilet and kitchen in and the whole space needs to be cleared out and painted. O and i’ve just found out my solicitor has decided to take a 3 week holiday how rude!!!!

A friend of mine is leasing the lower floor and is planning on using the space as an art gallery, so I will be sharing the signage areas with her (of course I’ll be doing them)

My unit is just over 1000sqft and I will be sub letting half of it to my father who is a traditional signwriter, he’s been in the business for about 20 years I think.

So I will have my vinyl/print room, he will have a paint shop and we will share the fabrication and production room.

I love the vinyl roll holder so will be printing out the info and getting started, its a great way of storing them without losing any space!!

I will also be making an 8ft x 4ft work bench on casters so will keep you updated with that.

O and Jason there certainly will be an opening party so keep you eyes open, being in oz thou it may be a little out of the way so a cold fosters may have to suffice (I could always set up a web cam lol).

If any of you guys are local then you are more than welcome to come once a date has been set.

O and for traditional signwriters my dad Mick is planning on having a small convention once we’re up and running. Watch this space 🙂

lol just laughed so hard I almost cried, rev bill contacted me a few months ago, I was like yeah what ever but decided to humor him, he wanted 50 banners and wanted me to liase with his courier in Cyprus when I said I would take care of postage myself and the cost all inc would be £30,000 (I know lol) he asked me again to liase with his contact, it was so entertaining o and he couldnt talk on the phone as he was in and out of the office.

He sent a few more emails which I ignored and he finally left me alone.

Was very entertaining thou but wouldnt waste your time :lol1:

I prefer 3 but again its the numbers poss because of the sizing due to the different number widths etc also I think the line could be shortened to identify the numbers as a sep entity. I also agree with Simon on the estate box colouring.

    Hi Oliver,

I too have been looking in to getting a valuejet, from what ive read the 1204 seems to be a little prone to going wrong so that leaves the 1304 and the 1604 to choose between, still not sure which one yet. Having a sep plotter and printer is again from what ive read supposed to speed up production time although im not sure of the exact logistics i.e. reloading materials (i think its done on a bar code system)

Ive also been trying to find reputable suppliers you may find the below thread useful Karen purchased a 1204 from spandex and had lots of problems but from what i can see its all from the suppliers end fact is the machine should have been replaced a long time ago

    Thanks Adam,

I too outsource my literature printing aswell as my digital print and lamination work for vehicles and graphics and think that by bringing this all in house I would make a larger profit I am positive that my roi would be worth getting one. Where did you get yours from?

I am also interested in peoples experiences with Mutoh Printers esp the rockhopper 3
