  • Saving from Signlab to an eps with embedded cut lines?

Posted by Kate Pollard on February 6, 2009 at 2:44 pm

    Hi Guys,

I am pleased to report that I have just finished my basic training on the roland versacamm sc545ex and am now playing around learning what else I can do but I have one major question, which I am sure has an easy answer but I cant figure it out –

How can I save an image created in Signlab as an EPS whilst still retaining the cut lines so that I can import into versaworks ready to print then cut?

    any advice warmly welcomed

    Thanks

    Kate

OK Ive just worked it out for anyone else who wants to know here’s the answer:

Firstly name one of your colours – CutContour

Secondly add a contour line using Cut > Contour Cut

Then select the colour you have just names as CutContour (n.b this name must be the same as above with Upper and Lower case)

Then go to File > Export save as Level 3 EPS

Load file in to versaworks and bobs your uncle you have a print and cut from signlab v7.1 or v8.00

    😀

got to > Options > Signlab setup > PostScript Setup and change that to Cut Contour, then any cut line you save as EPS3 or PDF will have the cut line for Versaworks.

you do not need to rename the cut line.

    Kate,
Do you not have Print and Cut Manager with your version of SL? I find it a lot easier to use than Versaworks.

I guess it’s what you’re used to. I rather like using the SL Rip because it’s all part of SL, but then I never make any adjustments to it, so I’m unaware, perhaps, of it’s deficiencies.
It is a bloody nuisance that Cadlink aren’t all that good with profiles for different materials.

Its also a shame that when you update SL rip you cant save your queues and setting, I have many jobs that I repeat, so I cant update without having to recreate all the queues. and then trying to put the repeat jobs back in the right place!

I didn’t know that. I hardly do any repeat work where saving the file would save much time so it’s not something I’ve ever tried to do. I’m surprised that you can’t save them – that’s really poor.
