Kev
Kev, what bearings are you talking about, and where are they located. Also, how do you check the feed rollers.
Thanks

MemberJanuary 28, 2015 at 5:36 pm in reply to: Help with Mimaki CG-160-FX plotter, please?quote Stafford Cox:I hate to answer your question with a question, but why are you asking it to look for the length of the media in the first place? I don’t use them in production at all but have been installing and training people on them for years. Can you not just set up the width and send a job down to it that you know will fit on the length?Stafford
I am using finecut, through illustrator. printer makes the registration marks and then you go to plot job. the plotter will get the over all size of media before it cuts job.
I’m thinking it is the sensor going bad.

MemberJanuary 28, 2015 at 11:19 am in reply to: Having problems with cg-160 Fx mimaki plotter – help please?quote Gary Barker:so you load the machine, press leaf size, then it measures the width between the pinch rollers, then it runs the machine to the back edge of the material but it won’t stop just keeps going is that right ? if so the is a sensor at the back make sure its not blocked / full of dust. there should be only one light but you only use this to detect crop marks !Where’s the sensor in the back.. I didn’t realize there is one in the back.

I read it might be the sheet sensor gone bad..
I do have another question. Is there only one light on, on the sensor sheet or both lights. I see two little eyes the left side looks like it is lit and the right side isn’t. Just wondering if that suppose to be like that.
Also how do you get into maintenance mode to check to see if sensor are bad.

However I do know that the long the piece is the more it off. I don’t think its me putting it in the machine correctly. just want to rule out the machine is not off.

MemberMarch 14, 2013 at 9:13 pm in reply to: Having a couple of problems with my Mimaki JV3-160spI think I fixed the ink starvation problem. Now I am have a new problem with these cmy vertical lines (you can see the yellow lines better, but if you zoom in you see the other two colors). The weird thing is its only in that one spot. The rest of the print looks ok. It’s only on the left side of the print as you looking at machine and nowhere else. Is this from print head calibrations. If so, what part of the calibration part is out.
Thanks in advance

quote Chris Wool:roland man myself so don’t know about that machine.
temp changes through the year make a difference so you may have a environmental check plus have you had a head strike. normally you can see in a head print check if they are out of alignment.I’m trying to find out how to get to that to find out if the print heads are out of alignment…I just don’t remember why I don’t do it all the time how and where to run the test for the print head Alignment..When it did that before it was the encoder strip but I checked that and ran the test on it…but it checked out good..No I have not had a head strike…I just think the tech that did the alighnment did a half ass job… Thats why I was wanting to check the alignment..
thx
-
quote Chris Wool:what type of printer and has the temp dropped a lot where you are
Sorry it took me so long…It is a mimaki JV3 160sp wide format printer.
The temp is cooler than in the summer but I would not think it would have change my print that much…Its been around 40 to 60 here in indy… Been raining so it not dry yet lol..But I did for get about humidity and temp change..usually when that happens I just have problems with banding not registration..
thanks in advance

I tried taking a sharpie to darken the marks and it did not work. I think there is a limit to the thickness of material that can go into machine. I just gave up..next time I get magnet material I’m going to see if I can get thinner. I know it will work for I got styrene to go through it, but it was like .030 or .020. and used finecut. but when I try to use cutcontour it don’t seem to work.

quote Roy Roffey:Hey All..
Friday and a bit stumped..
We are upgrading to windows 7 and have downloaded the driver for our JV3 however when we go to print from corel we cant see the printer??
Any ideas???
A stumped roffers ???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t know if this will work from corel. Was having kinda the same problem but was trying to print from corel, but from production house 7 rips. would open up and it would not see printer. but if I right click on mouse and open production house 7 as a administrator it would recognize the printer and I could print. I know this is out dated but, this for people still having trouble with windows 7 getting printer to recognize printer.
hope this helps

I was giving him that info and anybody else that looks at earlier posts like I do to maybe find the answer I am looking for. I understand that it should be resolved. Just for other people that have the same problems and would like to find the answer. I hate when people post stuff but don’t really post the answers to the question that was asked or if it was just vague.

quote Russell Huffer:I thought that Y axis is media movement motor and X axis is the head.
So the problem is not with the head but the motor turning the pinch rollers.Regards
Russell.
no the y motor controls the belts for the printheads.
-
does the printhead move smooth by hand. If not, and it has alittle hesitation then the y motor would need replaced.. How to really tell is if, when your running a job and your printer is not quite when you are running a job then your y motor needs replaced and will probably solve the error message.
Oh the bushings are behind the printhead on the bottom rail. they are pretty easy to put in. just make sure if you do it to watch and make sure you put them in the right way. but still not hard to do. There is one screw that you unscrew and there is a metal plate that covers the bushing. get a dental pick or whatever you call them and it will make it easier to take the bushing out..and there is one on the other side of the printhead too.
hope this helps

think your boss is a bit short sighted might suggest to him that if you take time out of your home life to learn these things you must be worth another 5000 a year 😀 😉I would pay myself, but it won’t help me get more money all it would do for him is save money and he would want me to do 3 times more work when I am doing 5 times more work anyways. I already do everything by myself. You know how hard it is to mount 8 foot sheet of something by yourself and cut it to. Its hard but I seem to do it..I am just glad to have a job is all.
thanks but your right that did not help
-
the photoshop file..you will have to do clipping paths in photoshop and save the path..then take it into illustrator and you should be able to see that path and then you can create you cut path from that…I hope I told you this right..this all can be done..I will see if I can get you screen captions of how to do it and send it to you. You will have to wait until I get home I do not have screen captions on my pc at work..

Onxy doesn’t have profile for some of the material to run things fast or low quality work. everything is for high quality and I can’t seem to find profiles for it, so thats why I am in this situation.
