  • Having problems with y motor

Posted by Josh Steenbergen on March 9, 2015 at 7:46 pm

I have a mimaki jv3 i60sp. I can run the printer for awhile and the printer will stop and say y something. Have the y motor replace 3 years ago or so. it should be like new for we don’t really run the mimaki just of certain jobs. Just wondering if I can look or check something to tell of its the y motor or something else.

    Thanks in advance

I would check bearings, feed rollers etc may be the motor is being put under too much load.

Kev, what bearings are you talking about, and where are they located. Also, how do you check the feed rollers.

    Thanks

Does it stop in the same place every time? If so, I would look for a mark on the encoder at the that point.

I have the JV3-130 and got a similar error occasionally and was advised to get some 3 in 1 oil and spray it onto a paper towel and wipe the rails the head runs along (chrome rods/rails that run the length of the printer) worked a treat.

I usually now wipe these rails before every other print job and its amazing how much offspray of your ink gathers on there.

    Hope this helps

Bob, you need to be careful with stuff like 3in1 for that sort of application, you would be better off using something a bit lighter like sewing machine oil which won’t hold dust & dirt in the same way 3in1 will
