  • Need help with setting up ink profiles

I am a newcomer to the sign business. Need alot of help with this. Not, sure if I am doing this right. the equipment I am using is a Mimaki JV3 160SP, my rip software is onxy 6.5. I talked to a mimaki rep and they told me I can make Linearization Table and Ink Limit Table, with onxy 6.5, but cannot make ICC Profile Table without plug-in for Onxy 6.5.

So, my questions is will the Linearization Table and the Ink Limit Table Be enough to set the profiles for, to have pretty good quality work. I started making a Linearization Table and Ink Limit Table, but when I print out a sample it looks like its all washed out and some of the colors are not the right color when printing. I printed the same sample with a profile I do have and it doesn’t look washed out and the color is closer to what they want. I also am not sure how to tweak the tables after I made them.

If all possible can somebody help!

    Thanks,
    Josh Steenbergen

hi, well i dont have onyx, but the shiraz rip using a similar procedure, it will print a table onto your vinyl, you then scan this table through an xrite hand reader which then generates a set of curves which is then attached to the profile you are using, this is used to ‘tune’ your media correctly.

i dont have a reader so not used this feature

I did do that the colors don’t look right it looks washed out and faded alittle. When I go to tweak it, it seems like it doesn’t tweak it. So, I guess I am doing something wrong I just not sure what it is.

Onxy doesn’t have profile for some of the material to run things fast or low quality work. everything is for high quality and I can’t seem to find profiles for it, so thats why I am in this situation.

    Thanks,
