    Alan,

No reason to use superweed unless it’s a large piece of work that needs weeding and you are on your own and new to doing it.

If you need a little telephone tutiton / support then I will be happy to help.

The control panel is different on the Lynx compared to your Ultra Peter.

Alan you should have the blade showing no more than 1 or 2mm out of the blade holder. Also the minimum pressure on that machine is around 75gms so if you are using a new blade then you use the minimum pressure setting.

Have you printed the manual off yet???

    Alan,

The manual for the software should be on one of the disks as a pdf file, so you can either view on screen or print the whole lot out.

Same goes for all the fonts within the software.

    Peter,

Politics & Religion i do wholeheartedly agree with you, as for conscription, well I would not have minded having to do it, after all I did grow up when a clip round the ear was a good thing to have just to keep you on the straight and narrow, not like asbo’s they give out like sweets today.

Scozzie, sorry mucka but yes we did invade countries but a fair few actually benefited from English rule, you know education, employment, law & order.

No sooner we gave them sovereignty back and most at there own request, what happens, they take three steps back into the dark ages and then blame us for everything.

You know in One way I wish I was not English because of all the BS that gets thrown at us, then at the same time it just makes me more patriotic than ever before and even more angry.

English and proud of it, racist yes I am and thats only because I’m English and living in my own country.

Who’s to blame, as said by many politics and religion, and quite correct too.

Am I sick and tired off all the PC brigade and all racist crap, well yes I am.

I think as a nation we have been pushed too far now, time to take the velvet glove off.

Simon, just as you I would like to say more but this is not the place, all I can say (and I’m not nor want to be a member) is that the BNP must have had a hell of a lot of applications today.

We have one supplier who is quite often out of stock of items and so they get placed on back order. When you phone up a week later to find out if the stock is in yet, they say ‘yes, it’s been in a few days’ and ask us what we need again. Then about a month down the line, they ask us if we still need the first order.

But don’t you find that with all suppliers, its whether they keep you informed. If they telephone you and say they are having a problem then you can cope with that.

    Brian

Brian, you said if suppliers ring to say that they have a problem with your order then your happy because at least you know. Ok but why in your previous paragraph why do you say you ring your one supplier to see if the stock has arrived, haven’t you contradicted yourself there, shouldn’t they be ringing you.

    Paulo,

The manufacturers state cold peel, but in all honesty through experience people will do it there own way.

Cold peel is just to allow the adhesive to set hard and not still be liquefied.

    Gareth,

Thanks for the reply, blimey there isn’t anything I can really say to make what you wrote seem any better than bad.

From our records it does seem that you last traded with us over five years ago, and things do move on and even may I say can get better / improved.
I do understand your grievance and why you would never consider using us for anything ever again.

I dare say that many of us on here have suffered at the hands of suppliers at some stage, even me, and did not get the service we would have expected to receive.

All I can do Gareth is apologise on behalf of our company for failing you, if ever you have any questions or queries please feel free to contact me.

    Paulo,

150 – 155 Degrees, 15 secs application at a medium pressure, for tricky applications it is better to extend application time than raise the temperature (as long as the garment can withstand a longer application time).

LJ no probs on the file glad I could help, btw did you know C.J. had a large tiger print for her birthday 😀

To be honest the Mutoh cutter with Epos is by far the best system I have seen in the last 12 to 18 months.

I know there has been a newer version of Opus released over the same time period but for me the Epos system so far has it nailed.

LJ you know very well that I could mention several cutters over 1220mm width but what would happen……………[b]admin edit

L.J. will correct me if I’m wrong but beware by the Mutoh SC1400 tag as it only has a cut width of 1200mm. (Good machine though)

As Peter says most vinyl manufacturers now only produce main line vinyls upto 1220mm, some colours you may still get in 1525mm.

Most cutter/plotters now supplied in their largest format are between 1200mm, 1320mm and 1500mm.

    Hi Lynn,

Yes you are right, some backing sheets are siliconised for “easy weeding” and whichever application tape is used may prove a problem for the application tape to get a good grip on the vinyl. (i was going to say some more here but wasn’t too sure if the invisible mods would have got me)

It must be the different backing paper used for white vinyl.

Sorry but I’m a little confused, what has the backing paper on vinyl got to do with putting application tape onto vinyl…… they are opposite sides?

My opinion Pete an this is purely to give the admin edit enforcers summat to do is………………

If you want to spend £xxx or £xxxx or £xxxxx then fine, I’d rather someone spend £xxxxx (plus vat, sorry Mr. Brown) than £xxx. but at the end of the day if your signage needs are say in-house then why spend £xxxxx when you can spend £xxx to do the same work.

I agree that the sign industry is been cheapened because of how easy it is for someone to start out new and to buy the kit and start producing signage whatever the quality.

From suppliers to signmakers we all eat from the same table, so we all end up been affected.

(re-read 10x so if any characters or scenes seem familiar then it’s purely coincidental)

Rob must admit from your post what you said was spot on, ( I forgot to mention the fact cus I blew a fuse).
But very correct with earlier machines you could drop a house on them and still they would keep on churning the work out, must have been built by Volvo.

And again rightly so as in most things the older the kit is the more it costs to replace, i.e. main board or power supply, just because nowadays most of the new machine parts are produced in the far east, at the same time for older machines the parts available are now just what is left in stock for any machine, if it ain’t available then the machine is no better than a doorstop.

I suppose you just can’t please everyone 😀

(hot) I can feel admin edit coming on but here goes.

Say 20 to 25 years ago to buy a vinyl cutter with software that ran through dos and had no more than 15 to 25 fonts included would have cost best part of £20,000.

And now cus you can pick various vinyl cutters / hobby machines for less than £1,000 does that make them any less of a machine compared to twenty plus years ago……….well no it does not.

Go like for like as in a TV, Microwave or even a dvd player that you can pick one up now for around £30 – 40 brand new, far cheaper than your Beta or VHS video but far superior in the quality of recording or viewing.

I would like to go further but because I am a supplier/visitor the last thing I want to do is seem biased or promoting one product above another, hence no brand names have been mentioned.

    Hi all,

The software is OEM version Flexisign known as SignPal Apprentice, Expert, Master & Pro, the only difference between SignPal & Flexisign is that SignPal only contains drivers for the SignPal range of cutter/plotters, and so it is cheaper than it’s Flexi equivalent.

Hope that clears up any confusion.

    Hello John,

We got Sky + last year and part of the contract was that we had the box connected to the phone line 24/7 as to receive updates / new channels etc just like Dewi mentioned.

But just like you have mentioned I have sometimes switched channels and noticed that the info box at the bottom of the screen that shows what your are watching an the start an finish time of that show sometimes is a hour behind and displays the program what was shown a hour earlier even though you are watching the program you wanted to see……..hope that makes sense.

I think it is just another conspiracy like Rob’s poll on spellchecker, ‘cus I use it everytime now since the poll.

I got a price for just doing the roof on a new mini and that was £150 to £200, so for a full wrap on a Smart Car would have to be anything from £800 – £1200.

😳 Thanks Deb I will be talking you about this later, my excuse is that I had met Dewi earlier 😀

Great to see that you have made use of the Tiger print Peter, I forgot to thank B&P who actually gave me the job file on Tuesday, gotta say that print didn’t half attract a helluva lot of attention and I lost count how many we where asked to print off so peeps could take them home.

There was one geezer who blagged one by saying it was for his daughter’s birthday can you believe that…….oh hang on soz that was Lee Harris and I’m glad it made CJ happy. Dewi and Big G great to finally meet you both, you make a good comedy team with Big G been the smooth suave type and Dewi, well a total nut job.

Also Nic nice to have found you propping the bar up, glad to have met you, also John Childs who is a man mountain glad you was sitting down John when we met.

Finally nice to have met wee little Rob, just has funny as anyone else I’d met during the show but not quite up-to Dewi’s standard as a nutter.

Happy days and fantastic to have met so many genuinely nice peeps, shame that some could not make it 🙁

I have to agree with Nigel especially after seeing the pictures of the last wrap on the sports car…oh and Dewi lent a hand / made the tea.

If you have had a long time fitting graphics then you are half way there to knowing how to vehicle wrap, because at the Sign UK show you did not get to see how the harder parts are done is simple.

Why show the way to do the hardest parts of wrapping when you are advertising training courses to do this?……….It’s the same as taking your van to have the brakes done only to find out the next day that Joe Bloggs repair center has gone and bought a cutter and is offering to vinyl vans up just because he has seen it done and it seems easy, forget the recesses or corners just lay it on the flat panels.

Just check out Rob’s demos on various wraps and you will see just how difficult it can be even for the most experienced fitter.

P.S. Dewi only joking….but you did miss the ashtray.

Rob of course you can have a beer, but because you belong to UKSB then I will have to have the first swig as all us suppliers have to knock 10% off for UKSB members. 😀

Notice on my previous post I put “understand” instead of “underhand”, cannot believe it, ever since the poll on spellchecker I have used it everytime (so the poll must be a subliminal message), what I’m trying to say is that it can weed out the spelling mistakes but it has no way of weeding out us thickos. 🙄

Rob didn’t want to mention the booze………you might have thought it was understand advertising and then given me the dreaded admin edit

As for girls & booze yep same this year, no breezers though but a nice line in Becks as tested by yours truly earlier.

If all goes as planned there should be a mini wrapped each day, but that’s on the opposite side of the stand from the bar so thats me sorted.

Just weighed a 50ml cartridge and it comes out at 75 grams so if the grey matter is correct then a 600ml should be equal to about 900gms or there about.

    Hope this helps

[quote="pshaw"]Most vinyl suppliers have published price lists with quantity breaks. I buy the majority of my vinyl from one supplier and have a simple agreement with them to pay the best list price regardless of quantity ordered. Thus no further haggling, they get most of my turnover and I get a consistent good price for an excellent quality of vinyl I am comfortable with.

I would say that sums it up from a supplier point of view.

BT are giving everything but the kitchen sink away at the moment, for the whole of this year I have got free phonecalls direct from PC to mobile or landline via their service “click 2 call “.

Even got the headset an mike for free along with the full kit to hook my PS2 to the web for online gaming.

About time these companies started to give rather than take and for BT to do it is even more amazing.

Yep one happy bunny so far. 😎

    Johnboy,

You have not comprised me at all, it’s just that I am a supplier / visitor that I cannot promote what I do or any products openly on the boards.

What I will offer though is whatever knowledge I have totally unbiased to give you the answers or part way and hope other members can fill in any gaps.

After all the UKSB is not just another forum but is THE FORUM.

So fire away with any questions 😀

    Hello Johnboy,

Well you are in the best place for all the answers you need, probably a good few wisecracks aswell from Dewi, Carrie & Mr.Lambie if he can leave the breezers alone for a minute.

As a supplier/visitor it is hard for me to answer any questions you have unless they are specific, (house rules), but if you do go to the Sign UK show then you will get all the answers you need unfortunately along with plenty off B S.

Fire away with any questions, if I cannot answer then I’m sure someone else here on this wonderful site managed by Mr.Lambie, (moderators) Dewi n Carrie will be able to.

😀 If that don’t get me three extra cards at Christmas then I don’t know what will……….oh sorry and Vectorwise…….haha four extra cards now. 😀
