well, maybe not as artistic as i’d like to have tried to be, but the customer kinda knew what they wanted so my hands were tied somewhat,

    but here it is,

the balloons are colours layered onto a black backing,

the main sign was all done (all 5m of it) in my flat / spare bedroom, and is on an 8mm thick upvc facia board, i’m not sure how it will stand in time, but it’s what the customer wanted and is fixed every 500mm so hopefully avoid warping, it’s only in the sun from about 2pm, so will hopefully be ok !

it was certainly nice to walk away from there with a cheque this afternoon, people must’ve thought i was odd cos i was smiling al the way home (all 200yds of it !). it’s a nice job this one, the guys mrs has two other businesses, one which is new and needs stuff done from scratch, and another which will soon be replacing 2 minibuses and she wants a more updated look for the logo’s etc,

not to mention the 3 people that stopped over the road and came over to make enquiries, already got one confirmed job from those enquiries !! things are looking up at last… seems i made the right choice of career path for a change !

be interested to know what ya’ll think, maybe what i could improve upon if asked to do a similar thing,

Could have done without the digital print of the motor in front 😀 but I like the shopfront.

Not a lot of room to work with but nicely done and it still allows for the inside window space to be used without obstruction.

Anyways thats a non signmakers view of course 😳

Jobe, that annoying car was there when i took th first photo whic i used to demonstrate the signs, i had to photoshop it out, it looked a little odd as the reflection of the car was in the glass but not there ! as a non signmaker… wha do you do ?

Hugh, as it says above my avatar.

I’m sure someone reading this thread may give you a little more info about what I do.

Like I said very nice job you did.

Looks good! Fascia board is actually quite good for signs. I dont think it has the expansion probs like foam board. and certainly is uv stable.
Only critism, well not really, its just I dont think you needed to back the balloons with black, could have saved yourself some time and just did them in their colours.

thanks Lynn, i figured the facia should be ok, for the reasons you mentioned ! , i gave the customer a few options, and explained that unless he went with something solid like ali, that he may possibly experience warping probs (like i’ve heard foamex type board can), but he still wanted to go cheaper, hence fascia board,

Jobe, i noticed just after i posted what it said above the avatar ! thanks for the comments,

there are a few things i think i’d like to have done slightly different, but thats hindsight for ya !

Pete, the balloons backing also provided the strings and bow under them, they had no definable outline of their own !

So you should be, Always be proud of your work, I am. But black is not a good colour on windows. I had to look twice to see the strings, Balloons dont need an outline, and nothing wrong with yellow or white string. Compare yours with the real one in the window, which string stands out?
Just trying to help save you time next time.

Very good for a first time.

Only thing I would have changed, would be to have put the text on the glass higher.

Prospective clients have got to look thru the text, and the top of the widow is clear. I’d have put the text higher, so clients would still have had an unobstructed view.

Just my preference tho, not saying what you have done here is wrong.

    Well done.

i can see what you mean shane, although you can see through them quite easily, there wasnt a light background behind them when installed, now all the card racks are there the gold is not as clear to viewers as it could be !

just another thing to bear in mind for next time, tis is one steep learning curve ! !

Only constructive comment I personally would of used just one colour for the text on the glass to keep it all uniform. Colours don’t always show well on glass either at a distance depends on the glass.
