I have an original Gerber Edge which is now starting to show it’s age 🙁

Sometimes when I turn it on, it gives loads of beeps. Other times, it’s OK.
but it seems to be getting worserer! I am sure it’s trying to tell me something in morse code with the amount of noise it puts out.

I have cleaned the machine out with an air line (with water traps) so there is no dust on the circuit boards.

Anyone with any idea what could be causing the problem?

It’s been good to us and would like to keep it going and not send it to a retirement home (local tip).

If you can I would disconnect / reconnect any interface connections internally that may help. Do you have the user’s manual? if not I’m sure you can find it (PDF) on Gerber’s WEB site. It may explain the "beeps".

I will also ask Service what they mean and get back.

    From Service

If it is a rapid beep. It is most likely the CPU board.
A slow beep can be a error or a bad connection on the CPU board.

could it be a dry solder joint somewhere?
you say its intermittent and doesn’t effect operation, only the start up.
