    Finally got this thing up.
It was the most difficult sign I have ever done, as I am in no way a carpenter or engineer and did not know if it would work.
Had help via telephone from one of my Letterhead friends.

It’s all on ½" factory-finished MDO, cut to size with a jigsaw then hand painted with both flat and gloss paint. It’s double-sided, and the ends are covered with aluminum roof flashing to make it look like a solid unit.
    It’s about 7′ tall.
    I wanted something retro/fun.
The alignment of the "Jill’s" panel is not correct but I will be darned if I’ll fix it! hahaha

I will add some lights and a brick enclosure on the bottom come springtime. I have been with only half a sign for nearly a year, having to make a correx patch on the one side of the old sign after a wind storm.
    Love….Jill

I really like that Jill, you should be proud of putting that together.
I love the funky off-the-wall style/shape to it too, with the posts at an angle etc. I also like the gloss hairline bean shapes on the matt background…

Thanks Paul, and Happy Birthday to your son!
Rachael is mad at me because while she was in the other room yesterday morning I updated her FB status to something stupid. (She had left the screen up on the computer)

Thanks for the nice words about the sign, I also feel it reflects me more than my old one did. It was a real pain to make though! I did not want to even have a phone number on it, and you know how I feel about "Tel:"
It’s loosely based on an old 1950s motel sign I used to like.

And I was watching hockey on the Versus network two nights ago, they had all-caps Brush Script spelling out HAPPY HOLIDAYS in one of their headers. I nearly emailed the network to complain.

Late 1950s is the first thing that crossed my mind when I saw it.

I seem to remember that some cinema adverts of that period used a similar style too.

No but my elderly senile neighbor accused me of stealing his silverware.
The day I put in the posts for this sign the cops came to my house, I thought it was about the sign (I did get a permit) but it was about the neighbor.

What stuff do you use to polish her silverware and does it look good in the lounge?

The problem is that the neighbor already accused and reported his nephew for stealing the same silverware about 5 years ago.
I was going to make a panel for the bottom of this saying SILVERWARE FOR SALE.

Sign looks great, even more effective when you see the side on view to get an idea of the depth. Definitely has that 50’s B-Movie / Motel vibe.

I have to guess at some of this stuff.
    Permit: $75
    Gallon flat black latex $21
    Posts: $30
    Flashing: $17
2 sheets MDO: $60 (I bought single-side finished pieces that were damaged at one end and primed/painted the raw side myself, the rest was scrap from other jobs)
    Hardware: $15
    Concrete: $30
All other paint/primer was leftover from other jobs.
I still will have to buy wiring, lights and rent a ditch-digger, That will be about $400.
But I have gotten a lot of comments so far from the locals, so I guess in a way it is cheap effective advertising.
    Thanks for all the comments!
