Kind Regards

We have printed a few canvases with our pigment ink printer… When we picked up the printer the fella said he would usually give them a once over with a can of car lacquer – You just have to be mindful that you give it an even layer otherwise it can be quite obvious. Needs to be a well vented space as well… I’m sure that stuff is quite toxic… but when it’s been all said and done we have never had any complaints. 🙄

Thanks again for the advice and the scenario it is much appreciated..and well understood. I guess it’s just a matter of courses for horses…..in some respects. I’m sure many of us on here that are serious about what we do have at one point and or will continue to aspire to purchase a solvent printer or something of the likes…It just a matter of time in many cases… As Martin has rightly said getting the work and keeping it coming is also a factor we all have to consider.
Thanks gents for another insightful thread…onwards and upwards it is!!! 😀

Thanks for the great picture…I guess thats a mix between the printed material you spoke about previously and good old bog standard vinyl right… It looks good 🙂
You mentioned being up-front with the customer, when you say that are we talking in terms of the difference between solvent and our pigment option (lifespan) or possibly the price difference ???
Just trying to get a bit of clarity !!:o 😮 😮 !!
Anyone else can chip in if I’m he only one that didn’t get it
Thanks again for the effort

MemberOctober 19, 2010 at 9:24 am in reply to: Best suppliers for coated media for pigment inks?Hey Andy,
Thanks for the update the more information on this type of media the merrier. It’s not that often that someone is bold enough to put their neck out there and try this type of printer and media for serious "solvent" work – when it pays of It’s an encouragement to some I must say .. I have been in that position. I’m sure this will be good for others also – I guess we’ll have to make do with these types of media until we can move up the printer food chain.
:lol1: 😕 :lol1:
Thanks Again

Stickers is an area that I’m really interested in although I’m not sure of the lifespan of the pigment sticker…Couple questions I have about them keep me going round and round….
How would you ever seal a sticker???…over the edge?? *hair*
Would they ever last outside..or are the only good for internal use????
My apologies for the silly questions but I have to ask
Thanks kindly for any responses

MemberSeptember 27, 2010 at 1:14 pm in reply to: Alternative lamination methods witout machineI’ve been laminating by hand for a good few months now and can vouch that it is a real hassle. It’s where I’m at for the mean time so I do what I can. I messed up a few A1 or A0 posters a few weeks back. 😮
It was a real issue because the posters used a lot of ink but hey…you live and you learn

Hello UKSB Family
I just wanna say thanks to everyone that has continued to input here on the boards you have been most helpful. I won’t start typing all of the names I am now so familiar with … but just want to say thanks to all of the old hats and new for keeping the boards alive. (Thanks Rob especially – A lot would not be possible to the degree that it is without this community)

Thanks again Jason
well I’ve been asked to print and replace a full colour banner approx 70 by 30 inches thats hanging outside of a building. I’m using a HP Designjet 5000 with their (UV) pigment inks which are said to be for out door use. The old banner does look like PVC as opposed to polyester or canvas seems. The job seems fairly straightforward – I just dont want to print an ang something that will be coming down in a few months 😮
Any Ideas or advice would be great ???
Thanks All

Has anyone that does have an idea got an image of this or can anyone else shed a little light on this for me?..
Can i print and laminate a poster on a self adhesive roll and mount this on the side of a van ??? 🙄
I know this might sound a bit *hair* (oogle) but I guess I’m in the right place to be learning

Thanks Hugh for that great bit of advice "mini wall signs material 101" 😀 .
You right I think I’ll give a mix of quote and qualities from now on instead of attempting to offer the cheapest deals. 😳If they were to go for the foam or composite option would the fixings be much the same for a brick wall or what would others recommend?…. would the VK plugs work well for these types of signs as well as they woul for the corrugated plastic.
Thanks for all your help – I guess its not just my post count that is giving away my level of expertise on this side of things 😳 😕 🙄
Eze
-
Thanks Lynn that helps a lot.
Matt – I’m only quoting them for material and the time it takes to weed and plot or plot and weed I should a said. I was gonna ask a (bulider mate of mine to fit .. and add a few bob on for that ) but thought I’d ask on the board first to see if I could get any help with fixings and fit it myself I didn’t wanna clean sign with dud fitting/fixings. … I guess I’ll consider driving down there and using the plugs Lynn mentioned and add it all into the bill.
The corry was kinda my idea 😮 as they have another sign on the wall just above the space for theirs and it looked like a bit of corry with a full colour vinyl wrap on it. They asked for a mix between that sign and a single colour vinyl sign on the other side of the building… so I chose the cheaper option for them… (and me..) based on what they showed me. 😳
Anyone care to let me know the ideal material for a brick wall besides ye old corrugated plastic? I’ll see if they are willing to extend their budget a little for a different type of finish, they do want blue text on a white background so I’ll will have to consider that..
Thanks for your time guys

Ok guys thanks loads for the input,
Good to have some of the local veterans give some of their valued opinions..I was warned against living with one of these machines by a fella. He was telling me the eco aint really that eco friendly at all.
Your opinions and advice is much appreciated
Thanks so much for the input and encouragement – so living with one of these machines in my living room with some kind of ventilation would be ok…. I guess a lot of you guy are practilly doing the same but in the office environment.

I do like the lower of the two designs – but think the web address should probably be in white though just so as to stand out a little more than the black. Looking good though. 😎

Hey guys
I’m taking a slight interest in sublimation at the moment, attempting to look at all the ink and paper options that I can. It does sound like it can be quite a costly affair.
quote Neil Speirs:… I’ve been buying mine direct from a paper merchant for the last 6 years, boxes of 1,000 but you need to purchase min 5 boxes, works out about 3/4p a4 sheetNeil Can I ask who your paper supplier is? 😳
Many Thanks
