Thanks for all the replies. I think I’ll just use the scissors method for this one as it is quite a simple shape: It is also quite heavy stuff.
(tbh I really should have though of that first 😳 ) -
Cheers Jason, I typed last response before seeing yours 😳
I might give it a go the way you suggested, it is only two oval shapes.
I’m not sure which blade I have, I only have the one that came with it looks more like a 45 degree angle….? -
Cheers, Nigel, do you think it would be the case for a one-off, or is it not worth risking?
Not really important enough to wreck a blade or indeed a plotter 😛 -
Yes Jill, you’ve obviously planted the nipple, I mean seed. (:)
-
-
Martin, how about inverting the etch and stretching logo across top half of windows with swirl design at bottom and in top corners, that should stick to the brief by maintaining privacy…..?
Chris.

Yeah, customer always wants most elaborate font they see. I love it when customers come with their own design using every font and effect that ‘microsoft word’ has to offer, the joys!
-
too fast even for an analogue speedo, lol. look at the way it jerks from 0>10>35. scary (hot)

Isnt the atom made of cf?
If it isnt it would blow away on ‘take-off’, lol! zoooom -
You get a voucher for 7 with some of the OS purchases.
Prob be for when its out on general release. -
Yeah Jill, gave that some thought….should I say fisher[person]?
I only went with fisherman cos the pic was of a male
😉 -
-
quote Mike Fear:is a bit like people with a 1.0 Corsa who stick ‘Turbo’ badges on the back.
I agree, I wonder what Bentley would say if they asked them for a bespoke cf bonnet…?
But if they want to pay megabucks to do it, woohoo! :lol1: -
-
What about the the subject being the fisherman instead of the fish or would that be another coarse/game issue?
-
I believe you wont get much benefit from a dual core cpu or compatible applications if you don’t have a 64 bit operating system.
I think there’s only a couple of quid difference in price between the two anyway…(if you’re building yourself or having made bespoke) -
Yh, will definitely be trying this at some point. Looks cracking!
-
Class David, I’ve been trying to find out how this method works.
Do you apply vinyl on back of clear or front…can you buy acrylic cut & edge polished from any of the distributors?
-
It’s amazing the difference from first design and one with the backgrounds on Stephen. (I agree with Jill about the text layout though)
I bet I couldnt even catch a fish in Linesville, lol!

I’ve found that some devices need to have usb connection directly to the motherboard and wont function properly/reliably conected to a hub or extension or even a hub with external power source.
I dont know why tbh! 😳 -

False promises man! -
You can buy a longer usb extension cable off ebay male-female
If you’ve ran out of ports on the pc and cant do what graeme suggested you can buy an extension that plugs into the usb headers on the motherboard and sits in a spare pci bay. Should give you full, high-powered 2.0 functionality. -

I think the consensus was, no unforunately.

Maybe Tony Beale Ltd. in Glasgow, I’m sure they do stuff like that – could be wrong…….

MemberAugust 1, 2009 at 10:33 am in reply to: If you go over your expected install time do you charge? Thanks guys, I think the general feeling is be sure to make an a good intial survey, accurate quote, and stick with that quote.
What I’ve been doing is visiting the site a couple of times measuring twice and checking everything else twice to make sure.
I’ll just quote normally and be ready to take anything I didnt foresee on the chin until I’ve got a couple years fitting under my belt. Unless of course its a dodgy fascia in which case I already put that clause on my quotes!

Am just wondering what the general feeling so I can act in-line with everyone else, wasnt a particular problem. -

MemberJuly 31, 2009 at 12:22 pm in reply to: If you go over your expected install time do you charge?I have actually been known to charge less if material/time/costs have come up less, yes. (depending on customer)
So you’re saying no, dont charge, Ian? -

MemberJuly 31, 2009 at 12:26 am in reply to: Is it okay to use other vinyl for pvc banners?I understand what ur saying about doing it properly for the right impression but the last time I bought the banner stuff it cost twice as much as normal and my minimum quantity was 10m. I’d rather feel it out First because I still have 8m of White sitting from last banner I did]

MemberJuly 30, 2009 at 10:11 am in reply to: Is it okay to use other vinyl for pvc banners? You’re right, I’ll just make up one with available colours.
But will the normal vinyl same colours as banner vinyl be okay for said purpose? -

MemberJuly 29, 2009 at 2:51 pm in reply to: is it wise to supply a proof with quote or not?quote John Childs:Good, long standing, regular customers with a credit account are something else, but for the normal retail customer it’s not a matter of whether you need their deposit to buy materials, it should be their demonstration of good faith.I can see how asking for a deposit could be seen that way, but I suppose it’s how you present your business image to people. When Arnold Clark ask for a deposit before going through a finance application I dont think they dont have the cash. So, I would agree with John: unless its a previous customer or a big established company (fingers crossed) I would ask for a deposit (for the artwork, or to start job). I’ve had so many customers lately have me jump through hoops because of their enthusiasm only for them to never come back and not answer my calls.

quote Chris Walker:Excellent, the one I’ve been looking at doesn’t seem to have any annual fees. I’ve just sent him an email to check.
But sshhh….dont tell anyone else now it can be our little secret, lol.I’ve received an email back, there was no prior mention of any fees other than the £8 per week breakfast charge, now there turns out to be an initial joining fee of £575, surprise, surprise! (hot)
-
So does the Chamber of Commerce yield a lot of good leads Phill, I think I would prefer to become part of that than a franchised networker?
Also, is anyone a member of the Federation of Small Businesses? -

I’ve been getting pestered to join such a group, I didnt realise they were any good? I’ll maybe give it a go then.
Yell.com does generate a lot of time-wasting phonecalls but I’ve had afew decent jobs out of it. -

MemberJuly 28, 2009 at 2:58 pm in reply to: is it wise to supply a proof with quote or not?I’ve advertised that artwork costs are £25, but I’ve yet to actually implement it.
I have been spending far too much time on cs4 and not enough time making money. When I’m a bit more established I will definately not be giving away my time and hardwork for a chance I MIGHT get the job.I have a games/pc shop aswell and I never give trade-in prices for games/hardware/repairs etc unless the customer is there with the item. (We get a lot of shop around people and other stores checking prices)
So I think thats relevant…. -
Make sure you get your FREE listing in phone book & yellow pages. Also in yell.com. Usually that will only cover people searching in your specific postcode though. For around a tenner a month you can upgrade your listing. to skip queue/wider coverage
I’ve tried a few different advertising mediums in my other businesses and found nothing works better than getting yourself out chapping (knocking on) doors, making phone calls or driving about with your van/car advert.
(Well maybe a national advertising campaign, lol)
-
That’s cloak & dagger stuff, you think they would just take some time to do/use their own work?
I suppose you could always pose in-front of all photos of ur work pointing to it, like a fishing photo? lol: (>) 🙄 -
