3m do all the different from white carbon to chrome carbon – i have a roll of chrome carbon on order but 3month wait!!!!

Problem with the 3m stuff is unless they have left overs every1 only wants to sell it as a full roll – £2000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was told the carbon stuff from 3m is not warranted for use on vehicles,
is this the case and what would happen if when it came to remove it if all the glue was left behind, or worse still it pulled the paint of?

Good looking job all the same

i always say to the footballers that theres no cover against any of that, and to be fair they dont really care!! – even that chrome SLR was peeling after 2 months – he was told to get lost after he kicked up a fuss (and he was charged 10k!!!) We didnt do that wrap by the way 😉

Nice job apart from the colour only a footballer would have, more money then sense.

Did’nt Totally Dynamic do the SLR, in which case it would’nt suprise me,
not impressed with one of there branches

People with money, even them that have so much they dont know what to do with it, quite often spend it on lawers that sue people, for making cock ups, just because they can,
Dont assume that if things go wrong they will be so stupid as not to realise they still have consumer rights….

My thoughts too Peter. The more money they make, the more they expect that things shouldn’t fail, no matter what rider is put on the job. If its not in writing, with their signature, I wouldn’t assume anything. Even then, a good lawyer will get around it.

Job looks great though, although its obscene how much money the soccer players in Europe get. 😮

    Hi Nic

Just got back from holiday and read your post.

To clarify the stocking position on Di-Noc, we stock 50 different patterns (including Carbon, Woodgrain’s, Metallic’s etc) in our warehouse and all of these are available by the metre. In addition to this, these 50 patterns can be ordered in longer rolls (25m or 50m dependent on pattern) and will either be in stock in our warehouse or come from 3M’s European warehouse with a leadtime of approx 5 days. On top of these 50 patterns there are literally 100’s of other patterns which are held in Japan (3M manufacture all Di-Noc in Japan) and should be available on a typical 3 week leadtime – The reason these are only available as full rolls are they are brought into Europe specifically for that one off demand. I am not sure why you are being told 3 months for Chrome Carbon ?? possibly has to be manufactured but should still be quicker than that – what product code no have you been quoted ? Also note that not all Di-Noc products are classed as suitable for "exterior" use (regardless of whether this is a vehicle or a sign)

If you let me know the code no you were looking at I will check into the reason for the long leadtime.

Hi Stuart do you do the ME-1435 or the ME-531 by the meter? – Many thanks

Really cant see the point – the whole reason for using CF on a car is that it is very light but still strong, so gives better performance ( although just doing a bonnet and boot doesnt save that much weight – you’d be as well off taking out the spare wheel or cleaning out the glove box ! )

Coating a standard metal panel in CF that doesnt ever really look like proper CF when you look up close is a bit like people with a 1.0 Corsa who stick ‘Turbo’ badges on the back.

I would have thought with a car that expensive, and an owner with that little taste and that much money, he would just have got someone to make him a one off real CF bonnet and boot..

    Hi Graeme

Unfortunately the two you have requested are not stocked in Europe and are therefore 25m roll availability only.

We can get them but they are manufactured to order in Japan so can only be supplied as full rolls, ME-531 arond 8-10 weeks inc manufacture and shipping, ME-1435 around 5-6 weeks inc manufacture and shipping.

Checking similar patterns in the Dinoc range – ME-531 is fairly unique with no match, however ME-1435 is very similar to ME-904 which we do stock and is available by the metre.

    Hope this helps

I agree, I wonder what Bentley would say if they asked them for a bespoke cf bonnet…?
But if they want to pay megabucks to do it, woohoo! :lol1:

It’s all about the ‘bling’ 😉

Have to say it’s a really nice job. Must make a welcome change from wrapping panel vans.

I’d love to get the black & yellow (not the seats or tyres 🙂 ) bits on my car carbon wrapped.

With all the bends and twists, do you think it’s possible?

Awesome car! I’m only slightly jealous… 🙂 Is it a 300? I used to own a Civic-R with a supercharger fitted, absolutley brilliant engine.

Anyway – I’m sure it would be possible to wrap those parts. I bought some of the cf wrap vinyl from APA and it conforms really well. You can buy 5m in 760wide too which would be wide enough for experimenting on the ‘bonnet?’ on your Atom without too much outlay.

Yeah, it’s great fun and that’s it for me. It’s the 245 and that’s got far more power than I can handle. The extra £6k for the supercharger wasn’t an option!

I’ve never done any wrapping at all and there’s a lot of curves/indents. Most of the parts are easily removed so I could wrap them on the living room floor however, as I want it to be flawless, I’d probably get someone else to do it.

Well the APA stuff has an air-release adhesive, the film is quite thick for a wrap vinyl and doesn’t crease or stretch too easily if you are heavy handed. I’d recommend having a go yourself.

Just done a test on apa bubble free carbon effect from samples supplied.
    Black, silver and white.
I found it very easy to apply, but it can be easily scratched, and from a few feet away, looks like mat vinyl,
I think some good effects could be produced using the different colours though
It is also tactile which may be a selling point
