hi all,
firstly………….
well done steve excellent shot mate!!!!!!!! 😉
and rob,
have you looked in the europoint price list, they have this webbing tape stuff thats meant to bond euroflute face to face, may work on foam board. Or just try a really good double sided tape. We use this Scotch tape stuff, we stick our memorial plaques onto stakes using it and never had any complaints of plaques falling off!
If you don’t need to prise them apart afterwards what about a really good contact adhesive???????
Or…
if you’re intending to bond end to end what about fitting a strut piece spanning the gap between the 2 sheets of board and glueing that?

Glad you’ve got a good sense of humour phill!

Hope you like the boards so far, we are a friendly lot, and don’t forget thursday nights are chat nights!

I haven’t had any experience of it in my eyes, I’ll squirt some in tommorrow and let you know how it goes 😀

We have the same problem that lorraine has, people just don’t think about what/how they are exporting graphics. Thats why I created this for them:
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/andyblacke … ormats.pdf
Then if they don’t get it right, send them an invoice for digitising it 😉
ANDY

I used to use the jigsaw myself lorraine but found it difficult to get a true square line. That in itself ain’t a problem for vinyl signs but if we are engraving laminates etc the edge needs to be totally flat for it to sit square on the bed. (if its slightly off the text will with out a doubt go all to pot!)

we don’t on our color-camm, its just something we didn’t really think was worth the money! To be honest with roland machines if anything is gonna go wrong (and it will!) it’ll more than likely get it out of its system in the first year. So any repairs would be under warranty!
And the only thing that may go wrong after that is the head, but it doesn’t go that often (I hope 😳 )
ANDY
-
and enough ink! 😉
but seriously, I don’t have one of these but I do have a colorcamm and one thing that is of paramount importance is to make sure everything is clean, especially vinyl and print head.

Thanks Phill,
I’ve had a look on a few websites for a table saw but none have the ability to cut 1220mm with a straight edge. Closest I’ve found up to now is 800mm using guide rail.
What make is the one you’ve got and I’ll do some more searching.

englandIf you can get a price from them that would be brilliant. I really appreciate your help on this one mate. If they refuse to ship to uk if you can work exactly what you would need to ship it to me we can arrange something from there. I am buying one on behalf of a friend so would need to OK price with him first.

I have seen this on some websites before but I have never committed to buying it. I’m very sceptical about buying things like books over the net because the sites don’t go into too much detail so you never really know what you’re getting !
However….
I’ve just been on amazon.co.uk and bought a copy £29.95 + £2.75 postageANDY

hi John,
Just pulled this out of the novajet manual, I don’t have one of these myself but it may help. Off the record, on our colorcamm we sometimes get cartridge error when the machine is looking for cartridge but it isn’t installed. For example if I set a job up using spot blue but neglet to install the cartridge (yes it has happened!) it just stops. You have I take it installed all the necesary cartridges for the job??

you may of already tried it but you never know it may work

The only thing I am worried about is that they need to be changed quite regularly, and I’m just a bit concerned that they won’t be. Any comments?
We have the same problem with the direx system (very expensive and a pain to work with!)
How do you actually fit the vista sign to the wall?

MemberMay 14, 2002 at 7:42 pm in reply to: does anyone know about the Colorcamms & Gerber EdgeI heard from Brett (one of the technicians at Roland) that when the temperature of the head is higher you get a much denser print, he did change ours to that to show us but then reverted it back again.
I don’t know whether or not you could control it from something like signlab though, Brett had to do it with a 26 finger combination of button presses to access it!!
Apparantly though Roland only introduced the higher temp. settings to try and put people off buying "zeronine" ribbons for their machines, hasn’t stopped me though. The ones we get from Thermal Products UK work better than the originals anyway and are half the price AND there is a slightly larger range of spot colours.

cheers rob,
Do you use signlab or just corel, we’ve just got colourmaster version 5 installed at work and the fella that brought it (simon from lettering systems) showed me how to do the digitise part in signlab but I can’t for the life of me remember how, any ideas?
The other problem is I haven’t sussed out how to contour cut around a jpeg image properly, if for example the image was this:
The cut line would be like the dotted one where as I want it like this:
Any ideas or know anyone who might??
Did you manage to upload the pics I sent, if I can get the boss to have a look at them tommorow I might be able to persuad him to pay for my membership 🙂 What sort of discount(s) do you get on the vinyl?
UP THE COLOR-CAMMS!!! (I hope nobody takes that as an obsenity)
ANDY
-
I did the colour chart thing within the first week of having it.
Rob, what do you do if you have to print an image from a jpg file such as a customer logo, you obviously can’t adjust the colours within that, especially with jpegs because it can be obvious that you have changed colours as the fades don’t match.
Any ideas mate!
Its gonna be one of my questions when I see the guys on the roland stand next Wednesday
And my machine is a pc-600 not 60, I’m not showing off I’m just proud of my baby 🙄

What we do is this:
If its to be printed, providing it is of reasonable quality, we don’t charge any extra for the setup. I only charge for the amount of vinyl and ribbons involved.
If it is to be engraved or cut, we charge anywhere between £10 – £20. It may seem a good thing to charge more at the time, but you are more likely to get the customer back if you give them a competitive quote.

its not panatrim, its some cheap plastic extrusion. Its the same old problem you see a cheap price and automatically think it’ll be a great product, but hey ho at least I’m learning from my mistakes! 😉
I’ve just emailed the makers of panatrim for a brochure, hopefully something will come of it.

Yep Rob, if you ever need help with engraving let me know! if I don’t know someone else will.
We have a new big-bed machine as well which will engrave a sign 600mm wide by almost infinate length, so don’t turn away those bigger signs as we might be able to help!
