I made my own transfer tape applicator, and thought i would share the idea with you. I took the roll protectors that came with a 50 yd roll of heat activated reflective sheeting from avery, and put velcro on the bottoms of them, and velcro at one end of my table at various widths to accept different size rolls. the dowel end of these fit real snug into a 3 inch core, so I had to sand it down just a little, not too much though, you want it to retain good tension when you pull the tape away from the roll and secure it to the table. It works great for me, just thought someone out here could use the idea.

    nice one brian!

to be honest i get these roll ends in with every box of vinyl we buy & everytime i look at them i say that could be adapted for a backing tape dispenser… but never get round to drawing somthing up..
the way you suggest is so simply! nice one.

my only concern is the long term use of somthing like this. i think it would start to loosen of with the big rolls we use. we use 48″ and 54″ rolls and they take a bit of pulling to get them unrealed.
i guess if it was a 24″ roll it would work… thank for sharing that mate..
