source for vinyl applicating rubber roller?
Posted by Andrew Blackett on June 4, 2002 at 3:35 pmI need help (av’ done for a while 😉 )
I’ve been looking for quite a long time to try and get hold of one of these:
But I have only seen them on one website, which is in the states (http://www.beacongraphics.com). I have sent a couple of emails asking how much the carriage would be but I’ve had no response from them. Either they don’t want to know or they don’t understand my accent! 😆
Has anyone seen these anywhere else? my boss bought me a roller some time ago but it was meant to be used for stamps and things, so it doesn’t have the long arm for extra pressure.
Hope someone can help me!
ANDY
PS where do you normally get your vinyl accessories and tools from?

thanks oreo,
We would be looking to buy 2 j-rollers,
address as follows:
cleveland studios limited
attadale house
lingfield way
darlington
county durham
dl1 4gd
englandIf you can get a price from them that would be brilliant. I really appreciate your help on this one mate. If they refuse to ship to uk if you can work exactly what you would need to ship it to me we can arrange something from there. I am buying one on behalf of a friend so would need to OK price with him first.

YOU can bye them from x-film they now have a uk branch and also a website. ill check for it and post it here.
they come in various sizes. easier to use than the one in the picture you posted.

Would appreciate that rob, hows the spring clean been going? Not sure how difficult an application roller could be to use like 😉
Put graphic on substrate and roll (Nah seems pretty straight forward to me!! 😆 )ANDY

hi andy here is the link.
now back to how easy it is. yes! very easy, but. its all about even pressure.
look at the one you have posted. it looks like a paint roller with a very uncomfortable handle. think about trying to cover a 18 wheel hard side lorry with that. you would have blisters in about 20 mins.
also the handle pressure would all be at one side. you need the handle to be in the middle with brackets to each side giving pressure across the lentgh of the roller.
anyway im not great as you all may know at explaining things so heres a pic. hope it helps with my explanation… 😆 -
Grear Rob,
I’ve been wondering myself where to get hold of a larger roller, like Andy have the small stamper version.
Thanks for the Welsh flag, now one happy dragon 😛
-
Thanks rob,
I suppose you’re right about the pressure on the handle issue! Right mate, as my grasp of german ain’t that good (well its non existant 😳 ) can you tell me if there is a uk supplier of these rollers??
Sharon,
Did you get the details I sent to you on enamel/doming kits??

Bought a 5" roller same as robs in newcastle at Details art store in Westgate Rd on Saturday cost £5.25p. They are in the Newcastle Yellow Pages.. Works great. Brian 🙂
-
yep brian is right
you probably can get them at most art stores.x-film have a uk brach also. not sure the number though. ide expect it to found somewhere on there website.
they stock upto about 13 inch wide rollers. but unlike the DIY stores they can be expensive. -
Just to let everyone know, I’ve got one!!!!!!!! 😀 (roller i mean!)
£5.25 for a 6 incher, not bad that. My local art shop was very obliging and I also managed to get an x-acto knife (again something I’ve been after for a while)

gray,
I’ve had mine for a couple of weeks now and used it on almost everything:
Applying app. tape (similar to your method but only do it with 6" tape, and replace the 2nd roll with the squeegie and push, couldn’t be easier!)
I used it on a 450mm x 600mm sign I did yesterday (the sign had loads of tiny 12mm lettering) and it worked a dream, I wasn’t too sure how it would cope……..but I’m prepared to stick my neck out on the line here and say it did a nicer job than a regular blade squeegie.
Treat yourself to one gray, it’ll be well worth the £6 it’ll cost you (sorry dollars down there init)
