Yeah once i done the wiggle thing i managed to eventually get into it, so i got past the initial problem that i posted, so the remaining issue is that when i power it up, is that the carriage just sits jiggling not finding the base/ home point and then coming up with the service error 0110
-
Morning Kevin…. yeah the problem is that i dont even get a chance to input that as it just keep going straight into cleaning mode from the kick off. Anyway i messed about more last night and got slightly further. So it seems that after boot up the carriage is struggling to find its home position, it sits there juttering and then the service call message appears. But whilst it is juttering, if i put my hand on the carriage and wiggle it slightly then it suddenly kicks into life. So its now the fact that it is struggling to find its base point.

Ribbon Cable…. which one Kevin ?
-
-
Also…. any recommendations of where to buy from ?
-
Hi Kevin…. yeah that is prob a good shout. I take it I would have to flush the other ink completely out of the printer in some sort of way yeah ?

MemberSeptember 5, 2021 at 7:24 am in reply to: Versaworks software, Colour matching advice needed please?Hi Graham…. yes I did consider that point. That being said though, when I change a setting in my usual rip software it makes a diff. So i would have thought if it was the inks that it would be the same for that program. Hence why I thought it was maybe a silly tick box or something that I was missing from versaworks.
I shall just continue to use my usual program, just thought I would try versaworks, but its no problem.
Thanks

MemberSeptember 4, 2021 at 6:10 pm in reply to: Versaworks software, Colour matching advice needed please?Yeah I get what your saying mate, I have 2 monitors side by side and the colours are diff on both lol.
Anyway it’s not a biggy, was just more that it was bugging me that when changing setting and still getting the exact same output. Thought there was maybe something in versa that needed ticked or unticked, that kind of thing.
Thanks Robert

MemberSeptember 4, 2021 at 5:13 pm in reply to: Versaworks software, Colour matching advice needed please?Hi Robert…. its not a million miles away, just that om screen it looks so vibrant and when printed it’s so dark. And was annoying me that no matter what changes I made, it made no diff to the outcome
-
Hi Robert…. it is OK, but not perfect, still got some slight banding. Maybe it’s just me, expecting to much from an old machine
-
Not right at this second, but ran some stuff earlier. So what do you think about the black. Will that get any better, or is it gubbed ?
-
Hi Kevin…. so in the interim I have replaced the hoses to the pump and tank using the hose from Jessops that you mentioned. I am still waiting on the dampers, which are due tomorrow. But this is the result I have just now… black heads seem to have come back although still all over the place. Is there anything can be done with that ?
Regards
Robert
-
Yeah but do these companies that lease printers etc not come out to inspect your premises to make sure it’s suitable and at certain temp and all that jazz ? I thought they did , maybe I am wrong.
-
Hi Kevin…. I dont think I would get a finance package, as in I don’t think they would let me, my premises is a garage shed at the back of my house lol
-
What would you do Kevin…? Keep at it yourself or get someone out ?
-
Yeah thats not a bad idea Kevin lol…. Good shout man.
Oh I don’t know, doing my box in… i am just afraid to pay for Andy to come out and say I need a new head right enough, and then I am another x amount 😞
-
Yeah I guess that makes sense, I am a Newby to printing, so I just go with what I hear works and is decent a.
-
Hi Kevin…. spoke to Andy this morning, seems a really nice guy. So he went through some possibilities etc… dampers being one of them. He reckons by the look of the images that the head is shot again. He also offered to come up and have a look. Just trying to work out financially if I can do that, as I am just a wee one man band here lol
And yeah the inks, I dont know a great deal about ink, just that I know someone who uses them and has no issues at all.
-
I fitted it myself Kevin.
-
The manifold was new, I have not changed any dampers. I have noticed that when in the home position that the magenta and yellow head sits spot on with the cap toe, yet the black and cyan head sits slightly to the right, so more to the cyan side, but i don’t know how to correct that, as if I do then I knock out the magenta and yellow position.
-
Do you think the inks could be the problem, as I know someone who uses them and has no problem with them, plus why only the black again…. thats what I am not getting, and the fact that when I got the printer the black head was the same, yet I don’t know what inks were being used in it previously
-
I believe they are called Lotus
-
-
Cool thanks Kevin 👍
-
Sorry Kevin… one other thing, can I isolate the power head clean to only the black ?
-
Ok no worries, thank you Kevin. Just need to source some tubing now lol
Will update how it goes
Robert
-
Ah OK thanks Kevin.
Yeah last night I took the cap toe out and removed the clear tube from it and made sure that was clear. But there is then the one black tube going into the pump and one coming out and into the drain bottle. So should I replace both black tubes ?
-
Hi Kevin…. it has not been sat idle at all for maybe more than a day or 2 at a time. As after replacing the head I am scared to leave it, so I make sure I print something at least every day or 2. Also see when you say a blocked pipe, do you mean the one coming off the cap toe ?
-
Or is there any engineers in Glasgow that would come and have a look, there is clearly something wrong somewhere when this was a brand new head not so long ago 😞
-
Also i noticed that when i do the powerful head cleans that my ink levels fair drop, but the black doesnt really drop…

Thanks Guys…. i will use commercial script and modify/ draw swoosh on
-
Hi Robert… thanks for all that. And yeah from what you have said I guilty for a couple of them. I dont use a roller as I don’t own one, i was just folding over by hand then flattening out with a squegee. I did roll it up around a paper core, but it was prob a 50mm core and not 100mm. So I shall get a rubber roller and try your suggestions and see how I get on.
Many thanks for the reply
Regards
Robert
-
Wrap them loosely ? Can you elaborate? Lol
Thanks
-
Hi… no its not painted. As you say it looks like a commercial script, but the & sign also doesn’t add up as thats not the & sign of commercial script is it ?
-
Sorry Iain… just read that again, yeah just sign making in general I think. I like the designing part, I am quite arty, so I do like that side of it, and then seeing the finished product.
-
Based in Glasgow Iain
-
Thanks Phill will have a look at that [emoji106]
-
Thanks Kevin… the brushes, yeah that is going back lol
-
Thanks for the replies guys. I do feel that I do a good tidy job when I do my work, I am a tad a perfectionist, so not the quickest but it gets done right, and so far had no complaints or bad feedback from any jobs.
So yeah i just always feel that I am probably missing out on some additional skills that you guys may all have that I don’t, but your replies has helped to put my mind at rest a bit, thanks.
Asides from the vinyl cutting side, the printing side of things I definitely feel I could improve on that, i just put in my materiak, whatever it may be and print, but again I feel there is so much more I should be doing with regards to the settings, the colours etc
I don’t know, maybe I am just thinking to much about it all lol. I often find i get involved with to much of a variety of things, vinyl, print, clothing, sublimation, etc.. rather than just sticking to one or two things.
-
Of course an obvious one is to get a job with a signage company, but believe me I have been looking all the time with no joy.

do you know if Flexi 12 profiles are compatible id they are you could down load profile pack from here http://profiles.saicloud.com/ may be worth a shot, this may also help https://techsupport.signwarehouse.com/f … -profiles/ as default import settings can throw things offWhat vinyl are you using
Kev
Hi Kevin, I had a go at doing what the second link you sent me said to try. And it tells me to change the input settings for cmyk and grey etc. I can do that in production manager, but I see on the actual rip page that these options are greyed out and won’t let me change then, any ideas ?
Regards
-
A right, sounds good Graeme, I will give that a look. Thank you
-
So I keep hearing Kev, but I am not seeing it lol. Especially when I am not confident of what it produces is good enough to sell
-
Ok good man, I will have a look at that also. Ideally I should just sell the machine on as I just don’t have the use for it, and never knew it was so involved lol
-
quote Kevin Flowers:If you search for Flexi 10 icc profiles you will find different profiles on vinyl manufacturer sites one listed below but plenty about just need sourcing
Ye I think I tried that, could not find any for the material I was using (metamark)
-
A right ye that second link looks an interesting read, I will have a look at that. Thanks kev
-
Hi Kev, I wouldn’t say they are way off, just not good enough. If I have to print and hand you a pic you would think it was great. But if you then seen the original then you would see a bit of tone difference.in particular in greys ,silver’s, golds
-
Yes possibly I have not really given that any thoughts doing it that way. It’s was more like a generic one i was wondering if there was one out there for doing canvas etc aswell
-
Thanks Neil I will have a look. It’s the start from there bit i am struggling with, I have it printing well, just the colours are so off

I think you could be spot on there Chris…. Thank you very much.
Robert
-
Ye there sure is. Thanks Martyn [emoji106]
-
So maybe I should get it in writing from them to say that they have asked me to print it… would that work ?
-
Can I ask what program you used to trace. As thats quiet neat ? Or is it a trade secret lol
-
Oh. Thanks very much Chris.. good man. I appreciate that. [emoji106]
-
Hi Benjamin. I have tried that already
Thanks
-
Magic. Thanks for all your help Stafford.
-
Jeez That’s above my budget at the mo. I think I will be looking to start on a printer which can do internal posters/ canvasses etc before going to solvent. So prob looking for something along they lines first.
-
Is it better to contact me direct ?
-
Well what’s the price range and I will let you know if I am interested… ? Remember small time, low budget [emoji106]
-
Def used… i just work on my own, small time lol
-
LOL Thanks Stafford…. I will check it out when i get home tonight. So is the soft landing strip the new one that they tested on your machine that you mentioned ??
And no i am not currently on the market for a new cutter just yet…. Keeping my eye out for a printer.
Regards
Robert
-
Ok…. Thanks Stafford
-
Ok you have me curious now, how do i know / go about trying it on my Fc7000 ?
-
Thanks Stafford…. If i am being completely honest, i didnt know i could do a die cut on my cutter LOL
-
Hi Stafford…. There is nothing wrong with it no. I just assumed that like cars etc that they had to be serviced to keep them running smoothly. So if i can do it then all the better. Is there a certain procedure for carrying out a service on your own ?
Thanks
-
Thanks Denise. Ye they are good ideas [emoji106]
And ye the new transit custom is murder. I have done two now and they never look right. As all the lines on the van run down at an angle
-
Thanks Chris. Do you have a pic example of your set up so I can see what you mean ?
-
In daylight
-
Is there anything out there that I am missing for projecting lines on vans etc…?
-
Back of a charge ?? I will have a look
-
Aha…. ye thats some great ideas Iain. You see my Dad actually has the exact one you mention, but he is a joiner. I have seen him use it on the occasion and wondered what use it could be to help me. But now that you have shown me some examples, then ye i feel i could use it…. So how are you fix it to the walls etc of where you are working at the time ?
-
Hi…. I have also been thinking about using a laser line in some sort of way. Iain you said you wouldnt leave home without it, could you give me an example of what you use yours for ??
Thanks
Robert
-
Magic. Thank you Jamie [emoji106]
-
Nobody ??
-
Fantastic. Thanks Jamie
-
Hi Kevin…. tried all the lubrications etc…. not noisy at all when moving back and forth by hand etc… it can move it back and forth by hand several times continually and it runs fine and then just jams up again.
-
Bargain…. i was almost purchasing another new head lol. Just need to get shot of the slight banding now… i am such a perfectionist, so its killing me 😩
Thanks Kevin
