Hi Jan
The front door handles are simple enough. Just undo the hex nut on the inside of the door, pretty much level with the handle. (not the three nuts in a triangle underneath the nut!). Then pull the handle and pull to the side. It should be as simple as that.
As far as I remember the side door should be the same.

Never heard of it if it does exist, can’t see a viable market for it tho!
Then again they said there wasn’t a market for black reflective….!!

Havn’t used the hexis yet but the 3M 85 is good but prone to failure if not prepped 100% properly and heated correctly afterwards.
Got a big contract coming up with the new Avery wrapping film, so should be interesting to see how it performs!

Hi Peter
For me, and many of the guys I work with, Avery 900 all day.
Any vinyl that has grooves etc. to let the air out must have a loss of adhesion where the ‘air’ escapes (my opinion)!
I’m from the school of ‘if it ‘aint broke, don’t (try) fix it’

Hi Denise
I’m pretty sure this has been covered before…
VW T4/5 I’d avoid. Not a great deal of room head height plus electrical problems.
Vw crafter, not heard a bad word.
Transit, Sprinter the way to go. I don’t own none of the above so not a great deal of advice here! All I know is a colleague of mine has a T4 and is permanently of the road!

I quoted my day rate plus travel today and got laughed at!
Apparently a well known franchise that sounds like sexpess only pay £120 for fitters! 1 guy to wrap a vito, 73mls from home, £120.
I’d rather work at macky d’s.

Then there was the 52" plasma and a box of crayons, a kitten, oh, and a Dvd player/potty!

He ‘aint going to pay 2K! I hope you prove me wrong!
He’ll go to a ‘back street’ sign maker, get a close match to the red, get them to scan a logo, done and fitted for circa £800. Seen it done before!
Good for us tho as he’ll come running, tail between his legs when Parcel Force’ kick his bum for it!
Good luck mate!

The same happened to my brother. The only way he new was when all his mates phoned him to ask why he was promoting the new iphone.
What do these hackers get out of it?

Your arrogance shows through again…NEVER once did I ask John for employment unlike yourself who wanted me to come on board in your ‘new’ wrapping venture.
Don’t use these boards to fuel your self righteousness. I make my opions and offer help, you condemn people.

Ian sooo negative!!
John Childs was a very good friend of mine and, shock!, Horror! He employed staff!!
Anyone who has knowledge within the sign industry is an asset. You make it sound that Ben should take on a 12 yr old just out of cubs.

Bit vague in what you need to achieve but i think I sort of know what you want!
If I’m right then personally id wrap the intake and then cut the stripes by hand.

Sorry Richard but I totally agree with Peter.
Big job with loads of risks. Cable ties on a 30′ banner? NO WAY!
Surely the Council would have had their own risk assessment?

Did you do a design so the customer could what he could have had?
If there happy and pay, don’t knock yourself to much.

Agreed Peter,
It’s just a rule I always abide too, whether wrapping or straight fitting, always fit from the back, forward.
Maybe I’m wrong….. 🙁 🙁

Just fitting rule number 1 Peter. 13 drops at 50+ mph day after day. If the over lap isn’t facing the elements there’s not a problem! 370 Argos lorries, 800 Sainsbury’s, 650 Homebase,…..I can’t be that wrong!!!

Mostley as David says…
Wouldn’t do it wet, absolutely no need. It will just cause problems for you.
Always start at the rear of the trailer as the overlaps face away from thr driving wind and will prevent dirt getting under the joins. Overlap is a personal preference 20-30mm is good.
Before applying make sure all the drops are pinned up to make sure the overall length is correct and most importantly the first drop MUST be 100% straight. Take measurements from several points, not just the beading at the corner!
Good luck!

Omega was previously called ‘composer’ in earlier versions. You should be able to get this pretty cheap nowadays, and it will run the edge.
Other than that, Peter is spot on.

Hi!
We do a few of these for various Estate agents and they tend to like….
10mm clear acrylic, flame polished edges with nice shiny chrome stand off fixings. Map printed and applied to the rear.

Love your view Zoe, it’s good to see people like you here!
Grab £1000 of print work in, sub it out and then you know you have a market to hit, and justification for your printer!
Matt

I Agree Graham, but would hate to d=see the size of the battery!
Original question tho, why the need for one?

MemberJuly 10, 2010 at 8:00 pm in reply to: advice needed on upgrading to printed graphics pleaseZoe..
As with life, you get what you pay for. If you want to go into the printing market then investment is a must. Spending £1000 and expecting £1000s back doesn’t happen.
Check the boards for print related topics. There are guys here with years of experience in the vinyl print trade and non of them will tell you it will be easy! Especially on £1000 budget!
Matt
-
No offence Zoe but if you don’t no if it is going to be profitable for you to print why invest £1000 in a printer?
If you have enough work to sub out then yes, if not, no!

Threads been covered before so have a peruse round…
I’m a wrapper day to day (not Jazzey J) and swear buy the Avery glove. Cotton ones work but not for long, my current Avery one has been through the wash 50+ times and been used over 4 yrs!
Have a few cheapos’ and one good one in the old tool kit.

MemberJuly 9, 2010 at 5:28 pm in reply to: Just a quick question to ALL vehicle wrappers………Hi!
Over laminate which matches the vinyl. ie. Avery vinyl, Avery laminate. Each wrapping vinyl has it’s own matching laminate. Different laminate than vinyl can cause issues when stretching or post fitting.
My personal view!!
Matt
-
Hi Graham,
I’d say it’s a 50/50 split. Half print half single colour.
Matt
-
Good point Nigel.
Graham,
You seem to have a lot of savey and ambition which will be in your favor. Your right in saying that the competition is tough, it is, believe me!
At this stage, (stage 1) I’d sub the printing to see what sort of response you get from customers. You could end up with printer and plotter collecting dust!
I’ve been in the industry 25 yrs (From design, manufacture, print and fit)and was freelance for over 2yrs vehicle wrapping which is what I do now.
After saying that, I wouldn’t commit to my own printer and I have a customer base.
Test the water and see how it goes. Its not the only plotter for sale!
Good luck mate

If it was clear you’d see inside it!
Matt

No I agree. My self and a fellow colleague of mine also had the same issues and informed 3m as it’s never been a problem before.
Matt
-
We are all guessing again……
Matt 😳
-
I agree with the cheaper/quicker quote but blue chip clients tend too shy away from ‘cheap and quick’, hence the printing element.
As far as looking more professional goes totally disagree!! If it did surely no-one would be printing window graphics?
Matt
-
I think we are all assuming its on the inside and block out is required. Maybe we will find out more soon and answer the question, not guess the question/answer! :lol1:
Matt
-
Peter…
Any window graphics we do are printed as we have to facilities to do that. Why fit twice with layers when one print can be applied. Certainly looks more professional to.
Usual happy self I see!!!!
Matt 😀 😀
-
We would print too but maybe put the lettering one side and the red block on the other side of the glass…
Matt
-
Hi Richard
Unfortunately in this industry you need to outlay money to make money!
You will need at least…
Illustrater, photoshop, maybe corel, maybe signlab or similar.
Art work comes in from various designers, in various formats. You need to look professional and be able to open files in various formats.
Don’t mean to sound negative but these are basic pointers..
Matt
-
Your right Rob, its a ‘fad’ as matt black is/was. Where knocking white wraps out now (my car included!) as customers want something different! Maybe fluorescent pink next?
Let them dictate and well match there needs and take there money!
Matt
-
Sorry stephen
My sense of humour!
We used to print the black diamond on metallic charcoal mactac to create the effect. From a few feet away looks good!
Matt -
Hi Stephen
Buy the vinyl, Less hassle!!! 😀 😀
Matt

Neil….
Wales? Asking for slate signs?
My entire house is filled with slate memorabilia from the north wales slate mines…very close to my heart! If you need any picking up and delivering I’d gladly oblige…Altho in Northampton!
Matt
😀 😀
-
Totally agree David…
You can’t make a rectangle fit an arc without distortion…
Signlab would do a good job but not what your probably after so yes, tweak by eye after dropping the single entities onto the arced image.
Matt
-
Hi Andy
Could do it in signlab or illustrater? Not too sure about corel, not my game!
Matt
-
I would have thought all, but I’m miss reading the question…

Just a pointer on the MOT issue
A sun strip WILL fail if the windscreen wipers touch it while on. Usually a 4" strip is ok.
