O God, that doesn’t sound great, though your sign looks good Graeme 🙂

Hmmm…so I suppose giving it a good going over with a heat gun won’t help matters.
Maybe the spray is the way to go.

    Thanks for the input lads

    Thanks Craig

Now for plan B, maybe a stencil?
If you don’t mind me asking, what did you use instead?

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated

    Hi Gareth,

If you are not printing it yourself it might give you more control over where you would like the tile.
Like Warren said if you can find out the maximum print area you could work out roughly where the tile would be, or leave it to the printer but you may be cursing yourself after saying ah if only it was there and not there.

Regarding the silicone as the others have said its best to cut it out,

    Hope this helps,

    Lorr 🙂

    Hi Ja Smith,

There are a few ways of doing it.
I often use the following method : create your text – create outlines – effect – stylize – drop shadow – In the selection box make sure 100% is selected, 0 blur, normal mode and whatever you want the offset to be.
You can get a preview, once your happy go to the object menu on top of page and expand appearance, then pathfinder and merge.
This is just one of the many ways, this way is good is handy for specific distance etc.
    Hope it helps,

    Lorr

    Hi Kevin,

I usually would weed and then applicate but I once plotted some really small fine musical notes out of etch and I found the best thing to do in that case was to applicate it and then weed it on the window to save any of the small pieces and lines moving…just remember to note on the back which is top and bottom.

I don’t use corel but in illustrator if you place an image you have an option to "rasterise" and with this you can select various resolutions from 72 to 300 ppi.
Maybe there is something similar in Corel, as the default could possibly be set at 72 for images

    Hi Adrian,

    Try this out:

-Whatever program you are in type the text you need (make sure to keep text editable, don’t create outlines at this stage)
-enlarge it to at least a meter -then create outlines (if in illustrator) not sure what it is in other programs…
-after that make it the size you want and see what it looks like

Please let me know how you get on as this.
After a lot of four lettered words i came upon this by pure accident…and it worked!!!!

Although this still does not answer why this happens…as the fonts were coming from a legit source.
Maybe as the end result was enlarged greatly after outlines were created…it then created a kinda of stress on the font, one of a thousand possible reasons.

I think its on the same lines as Richard was saying about size.

Hope this works for you….fingers crossed 😀

p.s if its similar to my experience when it plots or prints it will show, curves become buckled and uneven and corners twist on themselves….poor ould font is having a bad day :lol1:

    Hi Adrian,

Another way of changing individual colours in photoshop that works very well is go to "image" "adjustments" then "selective colour" on the tap that has "colours" select the colour you would like more of or less. So in the blacks put it right up the slider and with various other colours you think may add to it.
It gives you a preview which is really useful.
    Hope this helps,

    Lorr 😀

    Hi John,

Try designing it in black and white first, if it works on this level it has more of a chance when introducing colour.

I agree with Lynn about the Divers, i also taught "deep sea" so if he will not go with ADC ltd i think he will need a symbol/ image similar to Neils or Ians.
Maybe take a slice off the wheel tracks with the text to the right…

  • Did you make note of the van reg when you did the job?
If its a repeat job i find this helps to keep record and proof you did that particular model.

    quote Adam H:

    Just an update:

    Edit
The green tint starts to appear when each colour gets around 50%, any lower than this and the green becomes more and more visible.
On the K line, it’s very bizzare because why is the printer printing a green tint when the line should be Black to White (therefore grey in the middle) … but in this instance, its Black – Dark Grey – Light Green – Small amount of White

Hi Adam, is it only with printing tints / gradients you are having the problem?
Can i see the file or if its too big just a slice of it?

Hi Adam, a Jpeg should be fine once its in CYMK mode.

The way i would check is i would open the jpeg in photoshop go to the menu bar and you will see the "image" menu, from that image menu you will see "mode" just click on that and you will see a tick beside whatever mode the file is in.
If its in RGB just tick it to CYMK and save.

Also in the RIP check that in your print settings its on CYMK mode.

Best of luck with it 🙂

Have you tried printing it in different colour modes? Have a look at the original file to see if its CYMK or RGB, sometimes this can be the case.

It happened to me before where i was printing an image for a deli and some images looked as they should and there was just one image printed on the same material etc as the others but had a green tinge to it (been food not very appetising!).
After much hair pulling i went back to the file in photoshop and discovered i had it in RGB mode instead of CYMK.
I then changed it in Photoshop via <Image> and all was good.
Hope this is of some help.. if only for the process of elimination.
