MemberFebruary 18, 2011 at 5:49 pm in reply to: Roland AJ-740 – Big printer for such little cash? Not interested in getting involved in the whole, "there must be a catch" comments. it is one thing giving your views, its another when they are being pressed on us. especially when you have no knowledge or expereince of the machine. 🙄
I personally have been using the AJ-740 now for the last 2 years and I think it’s a fantastic piece of kit. I run it along with a Grenadier which sits just feet away from it.
What Rob has said is all true.
It has everything that we need from a printer, huge print area, variable speed and quality settings to suit all manner of jobs you can throw at it. Never had a single fault since purchase and is easy to use via Versaworks.
The printer suits our needs 100%.
I bet in the last week alone i have run more than £11k worth of prints through it.
Just my views and opinion from "another" experienced user of the Roland AJ-740.
anyway, i have been watching the thread and didn’t want to get involved. but some of the comments that i see have now been removed. got my back up a little as i am sure it has others.
Time to go home, so I will bow out now and let the thread carry on. :lol1:

What software are you using as there is various ways to achieve this.
Corel and Illustrator just apply a transparency layer on the grouped cluster of names.
Photoshop: reduce opacity on same layer.
etc…

Hi Rob,
Try IMPACT.

Tiff files are "raster" images so it seems like you are opening a your file in Photoshop which handles raster images, creating a working path "vector" and exporting the vector as Tiff which is saving as a raster file again…
The working path will always follow the pixels so its best to have a good/ decent sized image to start with, and mess around with the tolerance too…
I’ve never used Artcut so can’t give advice on an alternative way to produce a decent vector file from your existing software, but manual redrawing is probably the best way to go.

dunno if its the correct font Nik.

have you checked that you have your blade offset at the correct value as this will also cause your cut lines to be crooked/ wavy.

could be the vinyl stretching during fitting.
are you laminating the prints straight to the foamex or applying by hand? -
Pedigree looks like a bastardized version of "Kabel".
You could easily round the leg on the P and d.

quote Gareth Lewis:So, is it similar to what happens to the painted panels on the vans like, let’s say, when you see an ex British Gas van going round with the ghostly lettering/logos still visible after having been removed?
yes, but that’s more abrasion on the exposed areas. so the paintwork below the vinyl is protected and appears newer than the exposed areas once removed.

to find that…
open a file and double click on it, then go to "printer options" the "advanced" and you will see the options there… -
The logo is far too big on them, even Mercedes and Ford are producing vehicles now where the emblems are oversized on the vehicle.
Its no wonder folk debadge cars nowadays… 😕 -
i think jill means start it with the group it belongs to… i.e.
script
sanserif
serifmod
linefont
etcrather than the font name itself.
Gareth, within the forum index it already shows who has posted it.
this only ever becomes an issue when viewing duplicate topic titles in "the latest" posts" topic bar. but no more a problem than 4 topics starting with "font" or "my recent work" and so on. -

MemberMay 20, 2008 at 12:14 pm in reply to: can anyone advise me why im not getting a clean cut?You can nylon strips form most suppliers. They are adhesive backed and take around 5-10 minutes to replace as they sometimes leave glue depending how long they have been on the machine, so may require a clean so it lies flush along the length of the machine. Also remember to test you blade pressure when replacing the nylon strip.

OK, so what is your role behind the show James? are you not in some way employed to promote this event? if so, then yes you do have a vested interest.
Do the magazines allow you to pop flyer inserts in them without asking, have adverts and editorials on their pages promoting this event without even mentioning it to them. or do they just turn a blind eye to it all because it is in some way relevant to their magazine content?
maybe your better taking this up with Rob… because unless you have previously asked if this is allowed, my view is that you are spamming us.
as for your comment on banning. i doubt this would bother you anyway… your only contributions since registering in 2006 is to talk about something you are trying to promote!
-
-
Sorry, but i removed it.
It has been over a year since your last contribution to the site. From the small amount of posts you have made in the past, they were based on the same subject too. it is clear that you see this site as some form of free promotional tool which i can only see as a form of spamming us. 🙄
i would suggest you view board rules.

The following website has a great collection of clipart in cdr format. I bought the Armorial Gold Clipart collection last year (you also get a birds of prey collection free with the purchase).
PS … It all comes as ready to cut vector layers.

1/10 for having the guts to post it.
Only my 1st impression – nothing personal.
Not very constructive there mate. I think if you are going to give comments like that at least give the user some advice he can use.
If you have the time why not post up a quick visual and try pointing out where Scott has gone wrong. We all have to start somewhere.
also, nothing personal, just my opinion.
