Richard Urquhart Halo lit sign
Posted by Richard Urquhart on February 9, 2012 at 3:57 pmBeen busy and have loads of work to post up but don’t find much free time these days, built up lettering on poly backs, fitted with L.E.D on a roll, cut and soldered to size in each letter, aluminium sign trays powder coated to RAL colour. Very nice Rich, I love this sort of stuff.
Looks like the shop next door needs your services. -
Peter not sure if you can see but we also made a sign tray for the green sign on the right of this, so may be we will be asked to do next door, think its a food shop so will want it done for free kebabs!!

Nice Rich, love those LED’s just got some from ISPI on a roll with the soldered joins, work well don’t they.
Great work you are doing, always admire your designs and achievements

Thanks Chris, the leds are nice but lots of work to cut and strip as these are the waterproof ones. I like this type of work and enjoyed making this sign. Rich

Well done on getting on the short list Rich, looks great mate.
-
Thanks, very please and also pleased with the fit and quality of this sign and also the install 😀
-
sign looks great rich, well done mate. worthy of being short listed.
what type are the leds? -
Thanks Rob, the L.E.Ds were ribbon type fully waterproof, cut to size and each joint soldered to printed circuit. They were brought from a well known company just before they sold to another well known company. I like the effect and smooth glow but I have to admit it was so time consuming creating each letter due to the amount of stripping of the ribbon type L.E.D .

I’m glad this has been bumped up to the top again, I missed it first time round – even though you told me it was up!
well done on the shortlisting 🙂

SMP & Ashby ? :lol1:
yeh i know what you mean Rich… Ive been using a fair bit of Sloan LEDs
various types for different applications. cannot fault them yet.
doing a projecting lightbox with another one from Sloan right now, so will be interestiung to see the result as this type is a very first for me.demo on its way. 😉 :lol1:

brilliant Richard.. ive got a strip of that lighting around my gold fish tank, and the sealed end is in the water…seriously waterproof and no dead fish…
ive got a 3d job to design and organise…something to push the bounderies of what we have done before…doing this sort of thing must have given you alot of job satisfaction…. -
Thanks Cheryl, yes its nice work but not always the best in terms of money, as we know somedays I can fit 10 vehicles and that’s a great day, however getting this kind of work is rewarding, this job worked out well and every think was fitted with great care, we do get many inquiries regarding these signs but only a handful of people really understand the construction and cost. Rich 😀
