    Hi Phil
You can partion the hard disk without losing your information but you need special software for this and they do state that it is still high risk. Most of the cheap progs need to format the hard drive first unless thier is better software than when I last done it I would think that there has to be a casmate genius that can sort this out for you somewhere.

The other point you raised about being able to swap files would be a no no.But lurking in my head is a discussion I had once about duel booting a machine so that you can. I suppose you would be networking between the two systems on one computer But how the hell you achive that I’m afraid I dont know. I will be seeing a guy who works in uni tomorrow I’ll have a word and let you know or maybe you have someone local.

One other option maybe if its a lap top is by a second hard disk keep the first.
and just load 98 onto it and just run it wont have xp but if it does the job.

Wish you luck mate but you live save in the knowledge that in the next couple of years it will happen to us all as the up and outdate these programs and systems.

    catch you later FB.

    HI phil
Sorry to Hear about your problem.
I had simular probs when I first had xp and it took me about a fortnight to find all new drivers for me printers and I had trouble with signlab till I loaded a different dongle patch.

But Back to your problem I havent done it for ages but it should be possible to partion your hard disk This will give you another drive virtually IE if you got a 80mb disk you can split it in to 2 say a 60mb and a 20 mb so you get another drive which might show up as C: and D: then your cd drives move up a letter E: and or f:
then you need to write a little prog in your autoexec.bat file so when you boot up your computer you get a choice to use xp or 98 the pit falls will be a) it might not work
    b) it might make matters worse c) you cant use them both at the same time without rebooting.

If it was me I think I would run 2 computers and try networking them so you can swop files etc.

    Hope this helps…FB.

Hi Sparky. ( These are my observations and are not aimed at my brothers)

We all get Problems with glass and I find that there are two things that seem on the face
of it to affect the finished article more than most. one is cleaning it properly we all do it just spray a bit of water on it wipe it of with a paper towel or squeegee then towel
which works fine as long as someone hasent used that magic stuff which stops dirt clinging to windows or furniture polish with silicone in it. In which case you have to use something to get it off.

The second major factor is your applicator Technique there are loads ways to use it
but are we doing it right… has any one shown us or like most have we taught ourselves
After Struggling for a long time I suddenly clicked one day and look no bubbles. Before that I didnt just get bubbles … I got life support systems.

Then Along comes Mr Felt applicator and every thing was suddenly easy. And you get lazy and forget what you taught yourself… and up pops that little glass job
and….. Why has it gone bubbly.

Because I was a lazy git and did not do what I taught myself..

So my Point is I suppose those of us who are lazy and the ones who who have never been shown would like a demo on basic applicator techniques please…..You can never stop learning.

    Hi Lads

I notice you all keep Talking about wet application I assume you have all tried the normal Things like..

Applicaton fluid ( How Much a litre!)
Water with a dash of Soap ( why is it Sliding Every where)
Just Water( Mostly ok or grabs to much).

So Heres A little Trick….. Try it and Let me Know How you get on.

6 parts water (clean) to 1 part Methylated spirt Shake well
use on fine spray & just mist before laying down.

Note Usually only good for about a day and if you leave it in your bottle it stinks and
does not have the same affect.

Good or Bad let me Know Cheers FB

    Nice one Shaun

I have been a SL man since it was sign factory but now its up to e6 I am getting tired
of the “Designer Syndome” where they start to bolt on new whistles and Bells to
Make it a Must Have Product but don’t improve some of the Basic Needs of us
Vinyl Jockeys This Added to the fact half the stuff you never use or what you like
gets made more complicated than it needs to be then gets moved somewere else
is and wants to wisk you off to this web site and that web site to make/store
Which will become charge Zone as soon as you ” Cant do Without it”
When all you need is it to cut vinyl. Im Ranting Again.

The Point is im thinking of a second Product so if something should happen to Cadlink
like Casmate or some of the others which have gone into a black hole I wont be caught
    with me pants down.

Do you supply Litreture or Demos

Im not up on Aussi copywright laws but the advice from the guys seems logical to me.
IF were in your shoes I would try to do a deal where you ” Present them with thier new
Logo in Return for the Publicity (local Press at the Launch) and try to get a designed and produced by River signs credit under every one.

P.S. I belive in getting stuck in while the trail is hot so make a plan and get in.

G’day Nice to hear from Gray & Leeroy

Yes Gray its a bit of a monster castle is that and at long last they are starting to
sort out the town centre and make it a better place for visitors. I am a Refugee
and have only been here 11 years I was born and bread in Cardiff some 50 years
ago its only a couple of miles away but I would not move Back to the City now.
if you ever pass this way again the door is always open.

Leeroy.. nice one but I think youll find they mean you just have bigger and better
looking ones…….. Do you use Wellies or Velcro or do they have a better method
of holding the buggers still… 😆

I have Been Using lg And not found it to wrinkle but I have had the pink/white
and found that on the reflex blue on glass you could see streaks in the glue.
that added to the facts that it is a fast grab(cant move it easy if you mess up)
and I cant stand the clingy back sheet makes it a no – no for me.

My favorite for Years has been intercoat but there is problems getting stock from
aps and they keep trying to push unmarked Vinyl of the same Quality (MY Bottom)
or lg so Ii think its time to look else where which is anoying as in fairness to aps thier
service for the time I have Known them has been nothing less than brilliant for me
    and my major Client.

After Reading some of your posts I will give Oracle a Try I did many Years ago
and was not impressed and called it Oribble Oracle Let you know when I tried it.

    Hi
Just a thought put have you tried laying up the drop shadow and letters on a light box on just one piece of application tape. then applying to window in one piece.

I apreciate this cannot always be done depending on the design but sometimes it pays
    to think about this method.

Hope this is of use……… FB

    Gee Guys and Gals

Thanks for making me feel at home.
Most people think that men from Wales just walk around hills
with wellies on defiling sheep here and there.

Well I wont say its not true but some of us are very inovative
and move with or before the times as when you see me with my designer
spiked nikes and velcro nee pads going out for a run……..you aint seen me right!!

I have been in the wildeness for a long time and at last it’s nice to meet other pepole
whos will is to share thier Knowledge. As opposed to hiding it in case its stolen.
These People dont get the Message by sharing you learn more.. you make better signs
You then can start to charge what your worth. which some of us sadly cant do due to location or circumstances but through companionship and sound advice the burden is sometimes lifted.

This then is the the time to look at the advice take a bit from here a bit from ther and mold yourself a plan and if we stick together we can become a force that helps each other through the good and more important the bad get things done like cscs cards
(a subject to be discussed in depth as it will affect us all some how) and at the same time have a bit of fun.

Hell did I just Write all that I better shut or you might think I’m some sort of preacher…

Bye for now love you all (Going for a Quick Jog} FB

    hi Neil – Robert
I have not Stuck a Digi Print to a Flexi But Have put Vinyls on
Usually the Expensive Avery stuff for Curtain siders.
But I have put Others on That we understood were for short term use.
A digi print will only come with a 3 ? year Guarantee I Belive
but then thats all your likely to get if the face is printed.
It will never last as long as a perspex will last as a colored object.
and this will have to be considered when you talk to your customers about his
needs as he will be paying a premium for the flexi look which will also require possible renewal of the face in 3-4 years.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Neil.
I have some Experience in flexi face signs they are good for the right job.
But as you are saying about the colour be careful that you get samples as some colours when printed do weird things when backlit.
Kestrels springflex is easy to use if you have no experience and they are helpful
A lot of other systems are quite fddly to fit and require more than one visit when fitted.
That said if its a big sign its easier than humping sheets of perspex about
