Need Source for prismatic vinyl please?
Posted by Adder on December 13, 2002 at 10:55 amHi
I’ve just had an enquiry from a customer regarding quoting for work on some race cars. They would like some of the lettering done in prismatic type vinyl. Any suggestions as to who has the best range of this type of vinyl would be greatly appreciated.Would like to take this opportunity to say how much this site and all it’s members, have helped in providing inspiration and assistance. Many thanks.

Prismatic vinyl is not type……its a technique with 2 layers or more of contrasting colours.
Check out the post on chiselled fonts and then the links I and others have given to sources of these fonts etc,
Any more questions feel free to ask or mail me,
All the best

Spandex do a range of prismatics £6.26 is the 1-4 m price.
Only in 380mm width.Hexis also do a decent selection, so do Autac/Fineline.

well i have bought lots of fancy vinyls in my time… the most recent was colour foils from coburn in the states… now that company does one hell of alot of fancy vinyls, polyester films, foils… call them what you like.. the prices where also very low. not sure if that was because the amount i bought though…
e-mail them and ask for the number of there uk office. ithe uk one is not a stockist but can get the stuff fairly quickly from some place in europe. again another coburn outlet.
hope this helps…

I know it as holographic to Henry so it probably has more than one name, its only suppose to be suitable for internal use but I had a customer wanted it on his car, told him it wouldnt last but he didnt care. 18 months latter it looks as good as the day we fitted it. So much for it not lasting. Metamark also sell the stuff but if I remember rightly theirs is quite expensive.

I’ve used a bit of this outside, and I just covered the job with anti graffiti vinyl which has a great UV inhibitor. Job still looks good.
