Amazing finish. No CNC, no Laser. -
My recent production of 4 dibond circle signs 1000mmx1000mm was very smooth using my Dewalt jigsaw. I left additional artwork/ vinyl where the jigsaw was cutting the shape. Finish was nice and client was happy. Job done in house.

Solvoprint PVC is the name of the mesh which i buy from Neschen, the tape i buy from Antalis, which is called Orabond (item No: 96370, 50mm x 50m) which has an excellent resistance to uv light, solvents and plasticiser. 160c long term temperature resistance…..
Thanks for your advise Andy!

Hi Peter.
I have this exact question. How did it go hemming and eyeletting your mesh?
With my tool, eyelets and double sided tape, I can easy go trough everything and make a solid eyelet. I haven’t done it on mesh. Banner folded with double sided tape + eyelets, worked for years for me.
Let me know if double sided tape works for mesh too. Other members experiences welcomed.

To happen on applications makes me think this was a super bad paint work.1) Redoing it properly in a paint body workshop and than wrapping.
2) Remove lose paint parts – Reprinting and wrap again. Why No2?
Because if car goes to the body shop and gets fixed – when you wrap – paint will most likely come off when wrap is removed in few years. So car visited paint shop twice.Pane

I did glue the aluminium corners one day, and installed the next day. This might be where I did wrong. (after the corners came apart – I used rivets and things where different)
Will test the suggested glues.
Cheers
quote Kevin Flowers:Pane
don’t know what glue you used but if you use Penloc (instant bond) or Simson ISR 70-05 (which takes time to cure) ensure you clean with correct cleaner, scuff etc. When you install, edges are held in place. Both of them glues are used throughout the sign industry on their own with no mechanical fixings and i myself have bonded channels on 3mtr x 1.5mtr signs using Simson ISR 70-05 with correct primer with no problems at all.http://www.eurobond-adhesives.co.uk/str … sives.html
http://www.bostik.co.uk/global_assets/tds/TDS01497.pdf
normally stocked by Amari etcOne last point, glue has a larger fixing area when applied correctly than a couple of 3mm rivets especially in composite

In 2008 I was advised not to buy a printer.
I was told "you don’t print enough quantity – outsource your prints"
I did purchased a printer and was a good decision.
I might not print enough, but I use my printer as a tool, every day.
Most of my jobs required to be printed and delivered same day, or next day.
I never regretted buying my Valujet 1204. Took 8 years out of it.
You might wanna look into leasing a printer. -

Even if i have the money for this machine I will employ people to weed vinyl. I cannot see this machine justifying its price tag. But maybe that’s why I’m small business, because of my attitude not to want to expand. -

MemberMay 6, 2016 at 6:48 pm in reply to: I need alternative to Metamark vinyl. Advice please.Gents thank you!
This gives me an idea in which direction I should go.
Will have to do some tests.
Metamark weeds the best in my opinion on a detailed cut work, another important alternative I shall find in the other brands.
Cheers! -
I look at it from this angle.
"MD3 Durability; External weathering 5 years.
MD5 Durability; External weathering 7 years.
(This refers to the unprinted vinyl. Refer to ink manufacturer for durability of the finished product)"M4 series Metamark Durability: 5yrs Black & White; 4yrs Colours, 3yrs Metallics
I never put M4 on a vehicle. Hence always use MD5 on a vehicle = M7 on a vehicle.
-
Personally I always used MD5 for vehicle.
M7 always for cut work on vehicles. (M4 shrinks 1-2mm after a while)Having said that: The small sticker that I put on the back on every van I do – is printed with MD3.
Un-laminated, at 70x25mm size, they are doing fine after 5 years.
Haven’t done it in a larger size though. -

I always Metamark M4 MATT for cut vinyl on wall applications. 10 years, never a call back. Matt vinyl on walls hides the imperfections of the plaster / paint job better than gloss vinyl.
Once I didn’t have particular colour in matt and decided to laminated M7 with matt laminate. Didn’t work. Maybe was too thick, maybe the office was too damp (rail arch) vinyl curved and felt down on the office floor. Had to replace by ordering M4 – no problem.
The installation included 4 other different colouts M4. Only the laminated M7 with matt lamination, fell on the floor. All other M4 stayed up without any issues.
I’m sure if the surface was van or glass panel – the laminated M7 would of been just fine.
Shame Metamark don’t do MATT for the M7 colour series.
-
On a similar note I’ve always had problem printing / matching the Pantone Cool Gray’s on a Mutoh Valujet 1204. Spent half a day doing and the result where bad. Gave up at the end.
-
In my opinion. Metamark MD5 will not crack like that. I think is not fitted properly. I’m assuming they’ve applied with water, because windscreen is not flat, edge will not stick easy (without heat gun), small half bubble will form, that will catch the wipers and the problem started.
I don’t give warranties for vinyls that are installed by the clients them-self. Simple.
Some kind of solution will be to cut 5,10 mm line to make it straight again.
-
Looks like your "Autoload" in ON.
Go to Summa Cutter Control and switch it OFF.
Machine prepares for a big job and checks for vinyl every time.
Little bit annoying. I have mine OFF since day 1.
I hope this is the case. -
I no longer do design for free. Even van mock ups.
I haven’t had electricians or plumbers do free stuff for me.
Some of them even have a call out charge.
One electrician told me "that’s your job". Correct mate, that is my job, but i need to get paid. I also have mortgage.
I need to get paid for the 2h design time on your van.
When you seat your client next to you and you tell him you charge £45 an hour to design, his design is usually approved in 20 minute. When you don’t charge them design – they will make you do "many cool designs" and they will still need to "ask their wife" -
Laminator sold. This thread can be closed / deleted. Thanks all.

Stand will come apart easy. It is the weight (around 120kg) that makes courier cost high, I’m told.
