I’ve got the latest touch one and although i don’t use it every day, it does come in handy sometimes when drawing it does take getting used to though, i’d recommend ditching the mouse for a week and only use the pen, the best way i found.

I don’t use the touch feature though as i have the apple track pad which i find nicer to use when scrolling through web sites etc.

    Hi Brian

Both my rollers slide width ways so you can clamp the media down if not as wide if that’s what you meant, otherwise they stay in line.

I’ve seen them on there to, i’ve also heard about replacing the blade holder and blades with a roland one to improve things, they’re on that same auction site, from HK or china i think.

At the mo i’m still using the blades that come with it, i need to find a supplier for them so if you know a good reliable source, i’ll use them.

I’m using a trial of signcut, it does exactly what i need it to, but the trial ends in a couple of days and it seems expensive for what it is, i’m sure i see something saying it was only £20 but when i went on the site it’s more like £120, the thing is i use a mac and as far as i’m aware, this is the only thing that works.

They way i work is by using illustrator and then just use the sign software to cut, signcut it a bit problematic and you often have to force quit it (ctrl-alt-del) for you windows users, but it works and i’m getting pretty good results and weeding is much better now.

I had the same problem, it was taking me ages to weed simple stuff, set the blade offset to 130 and the speed depends on the size, mine is set to 90 but the smaller the text the slower it should cut, from what i understand anyway, hope this helps.

It sounds as though you’ve made up your mind….?

Personally, I would do it, £400 is a lot in t-shirts, but vehicle graphics is 1 maybe 2 jobs.

Could you not just sign a six month contract and see how it goes? you say there’s units still available at your old/current location so if it doesn’t work out you can get back your old unit or the ones next to it.

I’d go with my gut instinct.

    Thanks Martin

I never realised you needed different settings for different media, I’ll get some different media and trial and error them.

Can you please guide me to what are the main settings i will need to change and should i be following a guide to setup the blade, i got no instructions when i bought it so i’ve setup blind in a way so far

So far i have the blade sticking out where i am able to put my finger over it, i feel a prick but it’s not piercing the skin, i would say the blade sticks out about 2-3mm

I understand blade offset is a major settings, could you tell me the others so that i am adjusting the correct settings.

    Thanks

How did you get on? I’ve got a Creation CA630, i’m using signcut and set the offset to 0.25 and pressure on the cutter to 119 (what does the pressure do? is it for the wheels or the knife?)

I’ve got ok results, it cuts but weeding can sometimes be a nightmare, some times letters do not join up completely and this could be on a diagonal straight line say on a 4 so weeding can be a right pain and time consuming, i’ve searched this and other forums to get the right settings so if anyone has this setup with good results or a model that is similar, i’ll be glad if you could post your settings on here.

    Thanks

Don’t get me wrong, you should ask for all of it which is why i said give them a call and ask how they would like to pay, then if they kick off then ask for half as a solution, i wouldn’t want the hassle of having to chase people up etc and does getting a debt collector in or taking them to court actually get you anywhere other than a bad name around town, i just think it’s more civil to ask for the full amount, then go for half if they refuse and then get on with the rest of your life

Personally i would bill her for half to cover the costs. Customers have got big mouths when they want to slag off your company. here’s what i would do, i would call her up and say, you gave me the job, i completed it the total price is this, shall i send the invoice or would you want to pay over the phone and then don’t speak, if she then kicks up then say because of the circumstances, i will accept half, only when she’s agreed not to pay the whole amount only. That way you may get at least some back if not all, remember after you’ve asked for the money, he who speaks first loses!

I dipped it into the water slowly last time, so i’ll just drop the whole thing in quickly for the 2nd attempt.
I’ll use the heat resistant tape and i’ll try again shortly, i’ll let you know how i get on

Wow not as easy as it sounds

    Attempt 1
I did not use a wrap, i’m still waiting on those getting delivered, i used masking tape instead. Put in oven for 12 minutes at 250c on oven, tala oven thermometer reads 210c (Robert Dyers if anyone interested £3.49) Placed mug on the outside with handle facing inwards.

12 minutes later, went back to mug, paper is flapping from air flow, took it out and placed into a bucket of room temp water, mug sizzled and then cracked, the image on the mug is blurry also, any tips?

There doesn’t seem to be anything inside the file, it only seems to be 1kb which is nothing, had a look anyway and my computer confirm it.

    Thanks so much for this.

I am just about to buy the equipment to get started on printing on mugs etc and this oven will do perfectly, decided to go with the bigger argos version 12L and they have one in stock so i’ll pop and get that when it opens.

I’ve red this whole post twice now and i’m not sure if i’m missing something but how do i wrap the mugs, dog bowls, those silver coffee cup things etc so that the transfer paper stays on, also… where is the best place to buy it?

    Thanks guys

Just need to find all the other equipment now printer, heat press etc etc etc

Will look more into that then, we’re on the same wave length so i’ll go with your idea i think.

I’m not a member yet so i don’t see any website details, does being a member have much of an advantage? There’s quite a few memberships to choose from, i would like to see tutorials, links step by step guides etc but £64.99 seems a lot especially when i’m not really a sign maker as yet?

Hi Chris, it seems i’m just down the road from yourself, are you free today at all? and can you pm me or have any contact details website etc i can see, i’m not even sure i can message people being a non member

    Thanks for the help

    Hi

    Thanks for all your advice.

Chris i would love to visit you and have a look at materials if you close by, let me know where you are and when your free and i’ll clear some time.

I’ll search for composite board to see what i can come up with, i’m coming up with composite aluminium, is this right, seems very expensive?

The banners I was more than likely source out anyway but i just thought i’d see if i could do it in house, anyone know of a good company that supplies these, obviously cost is a factor but i need to weight it up against the quality, trying to find a happy medium here.

Thanks you so much guys and hope to hear back from you
