Cheers, Stuart & Rob
The signs has been specified with the high intensity vinyl as it is to go on an A road Which is BS EN 12899-1 Ref: 2 which is the cheaper of the two reflective material, I think the next spec up is used for the motorway signs (this stuff requires a small mortgage) If anyone has seen a strange man up a ladder looking closely at one of these brown signs it was probably me!

Hi Dan,
We use A4 & other bespoke sizes we have a guy in Oldham area that does ours. We use 1mm & 1.5mm pet g.We have had A1 off him in the past & he has made them with fold top & bottom so they don’t gape forward.
Cheers

Hi,
bought a CJV machine myself just under 2 months ago & not had any issues with it done plenty of print used about 8-10 cartridges, went for this machine for price, speed (bit faster than roland) & the print & cut. I can vouch for the quality, quite easy to use & maintain, support is good as well (only used this as the engineer only spent 2 hours on site, so just a few hick ups with getting my head round it) & if you shop about the Mimaki dealers you should get a good deal.Phil

quote Jon Marshall:A lot of software won’t work on a 64bit OS unfortunately. A good CPU and plenty of ram would have been a better option.
Hi John, looked at the CPU & RAM but it was Windows XP & apparently will only address just over 3GB of ram?

Cheers Russell will look in to that one, the thing that peas me off is that a upgrade was recommended so I decided to upgrade to a quite high spec PC like you do, that don’t work.
Looks like I will have to wait till they catch up, or upgrade to a down grade. -
Neil, Had a look myself & see what you are saying.
Going to have a play about with the max ink settings, if I lower from the 320 in max ink box do I mirror the settings in the blend in ink box.Cheers

What about windows that are bomb proof, you can’t smash them .I think that if the window has an opening window and you fix it shut, then this might break some sort of regs for escape.
-
I have covered some windows in a large high st company that are very strict on fire & safety, we have covered nearly all the windows in the store without any gaps and this has been fine with no problem they where more concerned about the flammability of the material on the windows.

Hi,
I have done a job that was on a set of office windows and had been drawn up for me , i just cut the job & applied it in etched glass but the job was in 700mm wide strips with a 20mm gap between each piece, when i quizzed the man who did the drawing he said it was like this for regs so you can smash the window if need be.I thought this was a load of poo as there was doors at each end.

David hit the nail on the head,
it’s good to get a good name, the plan is a pain in the arse but word of mouth is the quickest way your business will grow, i got a home improvement loan to start me up 4 years ago, and most of my work has come from people i know there mates & colleagues etc.
I managed to keep a window cleaning round on till i got enough work to jack the windows.
Good luck hope you get sorted.

MemberSeptember 18, 2006 at 2:48 pm in reply to: is there such a thing as colour changing vinyl?Hi, we did a job on some panels about 1 year ago and my supplier has some 3m colour change that has been chopped of a roll, i can ask him what width it is but i am pretty sure 3m do not make it anymore as they had to many probs with consistency.
