In the past, I rang up with an order for a pen holder for my
brand new GCC jaguar plotter (as they don’t do one)
shiver’s went down my spine when my enquiry was pasted
over to him… I still remember a lost hour on a call maybe a decade
before…. After saying I’d like to order said holder, he just went
on and on, with his opinion of my new machine, hence after having
to listen to his dis-like to my machine, and thinking enough is enough
as I only wanted to order, I had to end the call…
BTW I’m very happy with my GCC and would have bought a new Mutoh
cutter…. but GCC makes the new Mutoh Value-Cut for Mutoh (same machine)
Hope you had more than a few beers, you need it

Hi Helen,
I can vouch for Nazdar inks when I had a Mimaki
had zero issues although a few years ago and
no longer got it…. I’m sure they give a head replacement
guarantee, push them for that to ensure your ok…
But testing will is the only way… if colours drop go back!
I always wonder who really makes the real OEM inks….

Hi
Having run solvent, then latex…
My brief view as a user… Latex, brill if using hp originals, inks, heads…
But please factor in what the machine uses, all the disposable’s …
But here’s my beef, HP need really need shaming…For Dropping Old, and very well solid built machines,
but of which are still running 100%… for why? what? reason?…
But… All other Printer Main Brands Can Go On And On And On….
No Matter the Age… Granted I Did Love The Fact and it is briil… instant Print, and ready to Use…
But as a Brand to drop and kill machines as such… is nothing more than as shameful.
…So moving back to solvent printer brand, loads of choices, loads of ink, loads of orginal part,
loads of machines.. hope this helps
Cheers Paul
ps- they are solid machines, i mean, solid machines, over engineered, but you got to keep original
consumables.. one brand, no real choice on third party consumables…
pps-but if your doing wraps, and wallpaper, their up there above the solvents -
Hi James
Looks like one ‘Pantograph Services’ sell.
Brillant company to deal with…
Cheers Paul -
Hi
Its the older hp latex L25500 (1st gen) that hp have pulled, not the 2nd gen L26500 (Yet)
Heard from a HP engineer that they’ve never done this before as you can still
get parts/consumables for the even older water based/pigment ink printers…
Just HP being greedy, pulling the plug due to 3rd party inks / Heads…
These machines were built better than tanks, and there all over the world!
So look to china / korea for those consumables….
But hoping they don’t repeat the same trick to the L26500.
Hope This Helps

Hi James
Try ‘Premierline.co.uk’ I’ve had both my 5 seater vans insured with them.
I know what you mean, loads of insurance companys turn there noses up
just because you’ve 5 seats… don’t know why, there’s so many crew vans around now a days!

Hi
I’m 100% sure FlexiSign’s Rip Default is to Delete File After Printing.
I’m Sure you have to go into Rip Production manager/ preferences to alter this so you ‘Save To File’
Hope this helps… Just easier to write down what you did on your job sheet, than clogging up your Hard Drive!

Looking at going down the Shiraz route as seems
to give me big the best bangs for my hard earned bucks!
Stafford, I was looking at the Signature version as only 1 printer,
fingers crossed now everything comes together and works.
Its hard work trying to put 2nd hand kit together…
Thanks Again, for your input.

MemberJuly 31, 2012 at 7:57 pm in reply to: Colorific / Selectech / Tech8 Bio ink problems?Hi All, like many of you I also went straight over to Colorific
Elite once B&P went under… after much research/advice mainly
from this site… As a uniform printer-owner on bulk ink as they
say "your on your own" I moved and had zero problems….
Then I like most here I was enticed to move over to the well..
sort of eco-ink "BIO". All ran well then I’d say 6-8 months down
had issues printing red colours dark and light or main one black
with a bright magenta, just got a C**P pink. So time went on and
trade customers started to complain….
So I rang around a few long estabished ink suppliers,
and printer engineers and hey, there was a clear pattern.
So as a result I just swopped 1 ink and its wet parts over
and hey presto colours are back, nozzles as good as I can get.
I just think "BIO" users should have been told, instead of having
to result to this. If i’d been told months ago I would have moved
back to there "ELITE" brand… so they’ve lost my custom!

MemberJuly 26, 2012 at 12:07 pm in reply to: Blackburn Metals – showing pricing online your views?Bang out order! Would be OK if they quoted MSRP and
then quoted prices alot higher than real sign trade get the stuff for…
I know it tough out there for everyone,
but I’m old school Trade Supplier Means Trade Only Prices (!)
Next you’ll be having a real tight a**e customer asking why have you
charged X amount, when they saw a sheet for X amount online,
and then rest is just done by a computor (if only).
Belive me they are out there!!
Rant Over….Cheers Brock

Hi Neil, I was told by GraphtecGB (main Uk distributors for FlexiSIGN)
That I if I Upgraded my G4 from 10.4 to OS 10.5 I would also have
to upgrade to version 8.5 of FlexiSIGN!
Like anything now a days always costs you double!!
Give GraphtecGB a Call or Go onto ScanvecAmiable Web to Double Check.
Hope This Helps

Hi, I know a College of mine is selling off his 380mm Vinyl Plotter.
Its a Used Gerber Graphix 4b (Sold by Spandex)
Old bit of Kit but Built Like Tanks.
Only Prob is it Uses Plugin Fonts You cannot connect to a PC

is load in your 380mm Sprocketed Vinyl, Type in Your Wording
(its got a built in key board and tiny Display to see your Wording)
and Size Then Press Cut, Dead Simple All in One Machine.
Think He Only Wants About £250If your interested ring 07967 614 034 ask for Paul

Hi Justin
We’ve been using Frogjuice for past 4-5 yrs on Digitally Printed Vinyl Only.
Great UV Protector / Lamination Protector. Never Tried it on Sublimation
Materials But Reading an Orginal Old Frogjuice Fact Sheet (2004) it States You Can Use it On Vinyls, Banner (Suject to Testing), Paints (Again Test),
Substrates incl- Foam PVC, Aluminium Faced Materials (Again Test).
And I’m sure when it 1st came on the Market it Had Brass & Metals,
Proberly Scrubbed Those Claims Years Ago Though.
I’d Ring ‘Victory-Design’ for more info or just do as it says on the can,
Test it and Hope for The Best!! Know What Your After But Most Sublimation
Stuff Can Fade Very Very Quickly Out Doors.
Hope This Helps, If Need a Copy of The Old Spec Sheet Let Me Know and
I’ll Fax it To You.
Cheers Brock -

MemberJune 8, 2007 at 11:26 am in reply to: how do you cut/finish your corners on Dibond please? Thanks for your replies, just cutting the corners out sounds great,
a simple solution and stanley knife through the ali simple solution. But i prefer the corner i do now purely down to strength and if i could
get a neater join it would be great. Its down to the fact my metal job
saw is loosing about 1-2mm, has anyone tried out those Dibond metal
cutting shears could they be my solution? anyone ever bought a pair?
I can reflect a uksignboards member using air powered cutting shears??
Do they work or do a clean/neat cut.
Sorry to Pessta.Cheers Brock

MemberMarch 9, 2007 at 9:10 am in reply to: Too Apple Mac or not too Apple Mac? thats the question!Hi Rob, just thought id have my ten pence worth!!
I’ve worked on macs for the past 15yrs+ you’ll find them
the easiest to install a new programme. graphics wise their the
dog doo-dars, as for stabillity there like tanks, the power book im
e-mailing you on has half of its hard drive partioned off with the old
mac operating system on it which i de-juggered and all i had to do was
swop over and boot up in the excellent mac osx system which was 2yrs
ago!! Internet wise, their the the most secure, you don’t get attacked
by all those pop-ups etc.. Last pc i used on the net had to have its
hard drive re-formatted and system re-installed (then again it had no
anti-virus!!)
Personally i find every install i do on a mac easy, kids play, just click
install, agree terms, bang jobs done. PC wise well what can i say but
window after window of options i dont even know so i just click ok and
hope for the best! Sorry to waffle on…
Rob, go for the mac if you want to do graphics, photos to your best,
But even as a Mac Man, PC’s are the dogs doo-dars for running wide
format printers and cnc machines, i’ve got a branded piece of software
for my Mac to run my Solvent Printer and all i can say is its S**t,
but hats off for the PC to do the job Faultlessly.
Conclusion- Macs for sheer Graphics Power, PC’s for Running the programmes that produce the end product. -

Here’s a link for EZ SMART Guide Rail System
eurekazone.com
I bought it from its stockist in the UK. -

MemberOctober 3, 2005 at 8:53 am in reply to: Guillotine or wall saw, what do you recomend? We had problems cutting big sheets of Acrylic or Dibond 3m x 1.5-2m,
it was a pain having to wait on plastic stockists if there saws were tied up.
Cutting a big sheet free hand on a bench saw was a joke.
I found 3 soloutions. 1st-the most expensive and in my view the best if we had the budget
was the FESTOOL Circular Saw/Guide Rail System but when you
add extra guide rails to cut 3m works out most expensive.
2nd- MAFELL Circular Saw/Guide Rail System similar to the FESTOOL but
cheaper approx £150 Less even with extra guide rails.
3rd- The EZ SMART Guide Rail System The Option we went for, bought 3no
50″ guide rails which you join together to the length you need, can cut 3.5m no problem.
You just Stick or Bolt on Your Own Circular saw to the guide base supplied we bought a Cheap SKIL Saw and a Good Blade.
Cuts Great, Acurate I cut a 8mm x 2.4m strip out of 5mm Acrylic no problems.
Down Side is The Mess it makes if you don’t use a vacum.Hope This Helps

I Recently Bought ‘EstiMate’ Quotation Software So I Could Give
Quicker Quotes.. It’s Amazing How Much Time I Lost Fiddling Through
Suppliers Price Books (Thats if I Could Remember Where I’d Put Them!)
So I Started Searching The Net for a Soloution. I Tried Out- Sign Shop Manager, Clarity Plus loads More, One Which I Cannot Remember The
Name of Just Now (From The States. I Think It’s What FastSigns Use)
In About Half a Hour of Down Loading a Trial Copy They Were on The
Phone Mithering Me from The States, There Software Was’nt Cheap Either.
So After Trialing Out 4 or 5 Types It Was ‘EstiMate’ Which I Thought
was The Best All Rounder. I Find it Very Simple to Use Just Enter My
EveryDay Materials in or Just Add When Needed. The Give It Info Like
Sizes, Quantity and Other Simple Stuff Then Click..Click..Type in Customers Details Then Print Off a Copy and Fax It Off or E-mail
from it Direct (When I Get it Networked in!) I Find it Great for Instant
Telephone Quotes (Pending The Enquiry Of Course, It Does’nt Do Everything)
Just Be Sure to Read Up on What You Get Before Purchasing It and Be
Aware That After Buying The Base Software That You Need to Purchase
‘Plugins’ Pending on What You Use or Do. I Soon Worked Out Approx
How Much The Full Package Would Cost Me and Purchse it Over Here from Graphic Sign Supplies. Some People May Think It’s A Bit Pricey But
Believe Me I Thought Some of The Other Quoting Software Were Well Over
Priced and Rubbish.
Ps- I Changed The Last Word So Not to Affend! :lol1: -
