Any experience of Frogjuice?
Posted by Justin Mann on February 27, 2008 at 11:17 amWe are looking at coating some plastic sublimation printed items with Frogjuice to increase the UV resistance so that they will not fade over several years of outdoor exposure. Has anyone any experience of using this coating or long term results they could possibly share?
Thanks in advance!

Hi Justin
We’ve been using Frogjuice for past 4-5 yrs on Digitally Printed Vinyl Only.
Great UV Protector / Lamination Protector. Never Tried it on Sublimation
Materials But Reading an Orginal Old Frogjuice Fact Sheet (2004) it States You Can Use it On Vinyls, Banner (Suject to Testing), Paints (Again Test),
Substrates incl- Foam PVC, Aluminium Faced Materials (Again Test).
And I’m sure when it 1st came on the Market it Had Brass & Metals,
Proberly Scrubbed Those Claims Years Ago Though.
I’d Ring ‘Victory-Design’ for more info or just do as it says on the can,
Test it and Hope for The Best!! Know What Your After But Most Sublimation
Stuff Can Fade Very Very Quickly Out Doors.
Hope This Helps, If Need a Copy of The Old Spec Sheet Let Me Know and
I’ll Fax it To You.

Thanks for the info. Brock, much appreciated. I’ll speak to Victory and take it from there.

Victory design sell it in a can at about £9.50
Hometogifts sell it for about a pound cheaper but its victory’s can, how does that work? -
Victory sell 3 cans for £20
I have just started using it for canvas prints and am very happy with it for this. Can’t help on your query though.

Got a few cans I got last year but I had trouble with it drying. Think I was putting it on too thick

Dont spray it on frogs, they absorb it and die, bit of a shame really i thought it was a kind of fruit drink for them 🙁

i like the spray…but im not user friendly with the brush-on-stuff drove me mad, trying to get an even finish 😕

if the prints are of any value do not expect any help from victory if any thing goes wrong. it says on the tin that you must test its suitability.
and they stick by that even though they recommended its usepc world do a tin of print fix which is very very similar, last time i bought 50 tins at a pound each.

how would this stuff work over paint, like acrylic?
-
I have heard that it can crack and turn yellow, so I would not try it over paint.
Also heard it was just glorified varnish.
😉
Love…..jill -
i would say yes must have dried out well i have put the stuff on most things. i haven’t noticed any yellowing.
i had a very bad experience with it and will only use it on low value stuff.chris

brilliant as a UV protector, i put it on some PC60 prints i did about 8 years ago, i was past them the other day and they still look good.
Word of warning though. DON NOT USE TO LAMINATE A PRINT ON OIL LORRIES ETC. I Did and it turned BROWN. 😀 stopped using it after that, but must say when i saw the old sign i did with it i would consider starting again. -
Thanks for your input guys, guess we’ll just have to try it and see how things go!
