l must admit that l am a bit shocked at the reply l just had back from Adkins, they were very helpful and they said that model was last made about 10 years ago, or more, and as second hand value, they said a minimum of £1300.00 plus vat, the guy has basically agreed to £450 so l think l might have to bite the bullet and give him that, l can’t see l am going to lose out on it!

l have done as Kevin suggested and emailed Adkins to see if they can help, l must admit just looking online there are old Adkins manual presses like mine still going for £300 plus, fortunately l have a compressor on my laminating table which would run it. l’ll have to see what Adkins say, although l am doubtful that they would get binvolved with pricing second hand presses. We shall see!!

He was saying £950 to £1000, but he has just said he would be happy with half of that, i am the same as you, l have a manual Adkins which is around 20 years old and still working perfectly, if l could get it for £450 -£500 l dont think l will lose out on it, l just thought it could be handy to have a second press for if l get a big job in.

After trolling through all the menus l got there eventually, made it white and got shot of the sign blank, l will have to have a chat with Cadlink as most of my tech support from this upgrade has been lost, due to Covid, l could never speak to anybody, and when l emailed in a query l got a guy in Germany reply and tell me to contact the uk office, which would never respond, so when l do eventually get to talk to somebody there, l will ask for a tech support extension, but no doubt by then l will have sorted things out myself by trial and error.

    Hi Robert

It was the area surrounding the sign blank, which was blue at the top fading out towards the bottom of the screen, it mainly affected me when l open vehicle outlines as l tend to leave the sign blank as A3, but by going through the different menus and drop downs l found where you can change coloursand styles of the background, so all sorted now.

    Many thanks anyway

How much work has the blade done ? does it need replacing, beccause once you loose the edge of the blade cutters can do very strange things.

    Hi Richard
Knifeless tape is the easier faster solution, there are several to choose from, i would recommend 3M finish line, if there are tight curves then use 3M Designline and if the vinyl is laminated you may need Wrapcut Wire.

    Hi Chris
Although it is very similar, the font is different, only very slightly though, but it is most noticable on the top of the C and the tail of Y.

i have used n 8m x 3m framed gala marquee to wrap a couple of vans, to compensate for the wind l had a couple of ratchet straps thrown over the top towards the ends with a couple of 25 litre drums full of water attached to the straps, and inside a drum attached to each corner post, even though it was pretty windy it stayed perfectly still!

  • l mainly use 3M knifeless but on longer straighter cuts l also use Wrapcut and Wrapcut pro, as the filament is on the edge of the tape if you apply the in the right direction there is no lift of vinyl when it is removed and its a lot cheaper if you are on a tight budget

Well, to top that, Maldon District Council in Essex have banned all commercial vehicles from the tip around the corner from my office in Burnham on Crouch, l was refused entry in my small unmarked fiat fiorino which l used purely to ferry my large elderly dog around, l was even turned away when l parked outside and attempted to walk in with a bag of domestic rubbish and some cardboard for recycling, even Nissan Navara and MItsubishi L200’s are classed as commercial, all its going to do is promote flytipping, so much for our council pushing the recycling! Around 18 months ago they stopped accepting hardcore of any sort, be it bathroom tiles, garden soil, grass cuttings and greenery is still allowed as the recycle that and sell it as compost! and its only open Friday to Monday 10 till 5 and 10 till 4 in winter months, does make you wonder where your council tax goes!

Hi Iain, l know its been a while since this thread was on here, but l have only just read it, and l was wondering if it would be possible to let me have your pricing guide, l have, and still am using the “Price it” sign pricing guide, 2013-2014 edition, l did contact them to ask for any updates and they said they have not revised it as of yet! and like David Hammond, people keep saying l am to cheap. Any advice you could give me would be invaluable

    Thanks in advance
