    It was very very bad,

I got caught in Gloucester in a tranny van with a work mate, could not get back to S Wales.

We ploughed through a river in the road, the water came up to the bonnet and our wake caused fire responce car (who thought it would be ok to overtake us!) to lift off the road and float side ways into us.

We tried every route but the flooding had vans flooded to the windows (a good 5-6 foot in parts), we ended up in Tewksbury centre of after 7-8 hours of tiring hard driving to get caught in the worst we saw – the centre is like a island and it stranded us.

We dont get flooding where I live and to see what it really can do is shocking, trees, walls cars smashed and under water

We parked up at 12 am for a kip in the van to be woken up at about 3am ish by the sound of sea-king’s. A car was washed in to the flood and at 6 or so they stopped, I didn’t see this (I parked out the way of it) but an on looker said the car just vanished under the water, the same coppers then had to rescue a camp site as the water getting very high(looked a bit rough for the boats)

We got a break as the A38/M50 junction had dropped a few inches enough to plough the van up the bank and we joined the M5.

Over 18 hours later we got back, a bit of damage to the van.

But people were in good spirits and the local abbey started doing tea and coffee for people.

Here’s a "roadie" type thing I started if they are more interested in the logo, a few shadows, change of border, some text, a nicer blue and red.

    And some fairy dust!

Just spent 2 months in llanelli doing a refit on stepney place (old victory wine building in the centre) – surprised to find you must have the cheapest beer in wales – just around the corner from stepney place at £1.45 a pint 😮

Steve i have glanced my way through this thread so please excuse if i repeat whats already be said…
Vehicles libraries are never 100% perfect, they cant be due to how 2d visuals are traced. what i can say is that Impacts are the best of the bunch. don’t believe me then ask others… i have been in this game over 16 years… without this bit of software ide be lost!
digger “DEEPER” buy the most up to date version of the software and use it to its full potential.

    Cheers All,

Honestly I know the amount of work that goes into this kind of work after all I spent most of my working life building 3D models from plans (be it pictures, manufacturers plans or in the case of tv work artists sketches – or even mine for that matter), my models were not 100% either.

And no doubt I will get the most up to date version (I got itchy fingers and if I got a reply from impact I would got the newer version).

BUT I find the top of the bonnet to bottom of the windscreen is quite different from the car, not a problem as I know the car and it may not be a problem even if I didn’t.

Have a look, maybe I’m nit picking and as for not believing it was opinions
from the good guys and gals of the this that took me straight to Impact.

I feel Im on a back foot here – proceding to running AWwayyyy………….

    Cheers All

Like you i had an older version of outlines, don’t thick it was Impacts.
But soon realized you need to be up to date with these outlines when doing vehicle graphics. I purchased the new Impact disc and you get free updates for 12 months. The amount of times you use them its money well spent.
If i’m doing a design and have not seen the actual vehicle i keep the design on the outline away from the edge of panels then when you fit them use should have no problems with them fitting.

I will take you guys/gals advice on board and I’ll use the profiles as just reference and I’ll measure and take more pictures as well.

    Cheers all

Have used Impacts outlines for years they are the best I have seen, sometimes a slight bit out but I always measure anyway, sometimes it’s the badges in different places but I don’t think Brain ever claimed to be psychic 🙄 mostly I can do a design and fit it from the outline.

    Lynn

    Cheers,

Badges I can understand fully (to many editions to keep track of) but if it is the right file then there’s no need to be psychic as the profiles are in the focus handbook and being the best selling uk car for quite a while back material is not hard to come by, based on the disks profile the bonnets are really not that close only ish.

Are some curves of the profiles exaggerated to allow for the curvature?

But to many swear by this set so I’ll look deeper at the collection

3D Software call poser will do just that http://www.e-frontier.com/

Ages ago poser 3 was given way, or you could get a figure (£10 or so ) and take photo’s in the poses you want.

    Thanks chaps,

I have done some drawings over the years (onto paper) but I like the idea of drawing directly into the computer

Is the size of the drawing pad crucial…ie…if you are drawing, does the image have to fit totally into the pad screen size or is there some kind of scroll facility.

What I am really asking is if I were drawing portraits for example do I need a bigger pad size??

    Hi,

The tablet is mapped to the screen res, think of it as a mouse that looks like a pen (but with a pressure tip 🙂 ).

But with a pen the cursor jumps to where the pen is put down on the tablet.

    Hi,

The Wacom range of tablets are very good , I have used them for ages I had a A4 size in work and the A6 graphire2 at home.

The pens are very comfortable to use and for anything freehand they are a must.

I never got on with pens in vector editing programs though guys I used to work with did – I found the old plain mouse better for that.

At under 35 squids it’s Worth a try.

    Cheers
