It’s in one piece, the size of foam is 608 x 1010, this way l get 6 pieces from a 1220 x 3050 sheet. I prefer to laminate the print for my own piece of mind as well as the customers.
These boards vary in price, start at £130 for basic stuff and can be as much as £175.

This was printed on my Versacamm Rob, the customer was very impressed with this one. His fascia sign “The Mint” was stainless steel letters with a green neon around the edge, l replicated this using Corels blend tool if you look closely.
I buy the frame in for about £30 from two lads on the industrial estate.
These signs are good for cutting shapes as long as you mirror the image on the reverse. This “ICES” one was done with vinyls.

Some of the questions answered for you now l have a minute or two.
The lorry had been painted especially for the job as it was pretty rough when l went to see about the job, both sides needed rubbing down and painting so the prints would sit flat on the surface.
The size of each side is 12.95metres x 2.34metres. Thats about 30m2 each side. 19 vertical strips for my little Versacamm to print and for us to hang and align. It has done me proud. 😀 We took our time and were in no rush to finish as this was my first attempt like l have already said, two days later the three of us had done.
I used Hexis truck vinyl which is there top end along with a 5-7 year laminate film. I’m getting great prints from my Versacamm with this product by the way.
I wasn’t sure what size to produce the artwork at but l went for about 35 – 40 % of the finished size. This wasn’t a problem for the text and graphics and most of the pics, some of the lesser quality images that l was sent to work with did suffer though.
As for the joins, l know!! What a result. 😀 😀
Hope l’ve answered all questions here.

I’m in the same boat as you, l’ve bought a Versacamm and banners are going to be an important part of my business this summer.
I’ve looked into welding machines but l’d have to invest another£1500 in one of those.
Grafityp do a banner clip that clamps onto the banner and then you can screw the clip to the wall. The clips are not too big and are easy to fit, once the clamp is pulled tight with the banner you struggle to pull the banner out.
With this method you don’t need hems and eyelets but l suspect that it compromises the strength of the banner to a certain extent. Mind you l’ve had one fixed outside my unit for a month or so and it is fine.
If you come across another option then post it here and l’ll check it out.

Not sure what you are refering to when you say image sizes Image?
Do you mean the pictures of the “A list celebs”, “The STARS”?

How dare you say the armpit of Lincolnshire Steve!!!!! This is a classy town. 😀
Actually Rob l didn’t make as much as l should have done. I’m trying to get in with the firm so l gave them my very best price in the hope of getting all of there sign works.
We’ll see if they have any more work done, l know the BOSS man was very impressed with it so you never know.
The silhouettes are cliparts blacked out, l got them out of Corel 11. The design brief for this side was to copy a rather cluttered looking brochure promoting the seasons acts and the silhouettes were at the bottom so l can’t claim the glory on them Dewi. They do finish the job off on that side though.
The design on the other side was supplied.

I know l’m a bit late with this one but Grafityp do a bungee clip, they are to be used with or withour the ropes. They clamp onto the banner and grip it very very well, you then screw the clamp to the wall and you have a tight fixing. They are available in two sizes, l’ve started using them instead of buying a welding machine to put up my digital printed banners.

Looking into the same thing myself.
He needs to find a local college that supports the scheme, l think he would need to go on an IVQ or something like that. They pay them and you train them and then see about a job at the end of it.
If you find anything out to further what l aklready know then post it here and l’ll keep looking back for info.

This ones in response to Robs post.
I have a versacamm in a small workshop (solvents too smelly!!) and do vehicles but obviously have to laminate, would you put a solvent print onto a vehicle unlaminated.
The samples of solvent prints that l have been given would still not last the distance on vehicles.
I will be watching this as l have hummed and rrrrrrrrrrrrr’ed about the conversion.

You can try Victory design for this kind of thing. they sell all the garment films and heat presses. They can be a bit pricey but they do have good range. I know of another firm but can’t think of their name, if l remember tomorrow l’ll have a look in the office and find the name and number out for you.
Look round for the best price with the heat presses though.

I was going to work from the middle and work out as this is where quite a lot of horizontal text appears on the graphic. I figured this would be the way forward for this job.
    Am l wrong?

    Thanks for the advice.
Going to go with a 15 – 20mm overlap. Got some nice thick felt applicators for the job. Will try applying dry and see how it goes.
    Thanks for the help.

The prints are from my newly aquired Versacamm Sp300…..yes l can hear you say that its only 736mm wide and prints only 9m2 an hour. Going to take ages. I know. We all have to start somewhere though!!
Going to stripe it with about 20 vertical prints, all laminated. Start from the middle and work out.

Is it best to go wet or dry?
Four men on the job, two inexperienced with vinyl application and two that are.
Using Multifix. Can’t remember the product no. but hexis have recommended it and l am very happy with the prints from the versacamm using this product
Going to use felt applicators and rollers.
It’s all happening in a rather large shed with a couple of big space heaters on the go, l still think that it will be a bit nippy in there though.
    Any advice is appreciated.
