Over 1.5mtr Screen Printing – is this possible?
Posted by Ian Higgins on April 6, 2005 at 10:50 amHi Folks,
I have been given a job to price up for screen printing. put it on here for quotes but o replies..
Someone has told me that a 1.5mtr screen is too large!
Is this true or does anyone on here have screens that big?Cheers

hi 😀
you can get screens that big, it depends on your printing table and what size it could hold. i have one at 82″x56″ but then again if it was 1.5meter square i think you would struggle to get anything suitable 😛

There are a few companies that can screen print a continuos length.

any particular reason you`re not doing them on the cadet??

Hi,
The reason is mainly cost, Screen printing will be a lot cheaper I am sure.
Having said that I have not had much joy printing on clear.
Cheers

do you find that the colours “bleed” Ian, as i do with my Rockhopper.
I would have thought you full solvent would have been OK on clear!!

HI LJ…
No it was not the bleed that was the problem.. it just looked a bit wishy washy!!
only tried it once so could probably do it better now with a bit more knowledge
Cheers

yes i forgot about that part (wishy washy) so i tried a higher dpi but that was then causing the bleeding.
the only way i cured the faded look was to put a panel of white vinyl over the back (on inside of window printed in reverse of course). so i try to stay away from clear vinyl printing now.

assuming you need a reasonable quantity in 1500 x 190 then most reasonable size screen printers will print 5 up on a 1040 x 1550 press, there are a few in Yorkshire that would do that no problem.

i think 1.5mtr is Brushwood Design’s screen limit in North Devon or it becomes just very difficult. They are street-banner printers.

Hi I realise I’m a bit late with this post but the company I used to work for could print/floodcoat up to 2.9m long.
Don’t know if this helps anyone… -
How many colours is the design?
Have you thought of cutting the design out of transfer film and heat pressing it on?
