    Greetings to everyone!

I own a Designjet 2000 cp, I have noticed when I print graphics that have deep blacks in them that the blacks have lines running through them. Can this be from bad printheads? or do I need to re-calibrate my printer? Or is this just the limitations on my machine? The only thing I can additonally say is that the blacks look like they were printed on a bubble jet printer at home, you know with black bands for solid colors.
Can anyone shed some light on this prb.
    Thanks in advance.

    Mark,

Not sure about your machine but i do know this instance on the JV3 suggests that one of the print heads has had it, 😥 as i said dont take my word for it but thats what we was told by a technician

    Hi,

For jobs like this we use ‘big yellow’ for cutting graphics its a great piece of kit, its got a great finger protector and is non slip
Hexis supply them and they come in all sizes, 500mm 1000mm 1500mm ranging from £20.00 – $0.00

As i said they cut graphics etc a treat but am looking for something a bit more substantial for cutting foamex so if anyone has any ideas?

    Cheers

So… the Ezy Taper arrived yesterday,
After reading the positive comments on here i decided to part with the hard earned.
Im glad i did, i fitted, laminated and cut 10 3’x2′ foamex boards in 2.5 hours (bear in mind an hour + of that was spent with the stanley and a straight edge)

Its a fantastic piece of kit and i i agree with everyone else on here, cutting out the skilled aspect saves a lot of time, we are looking to build a bench either side of the taper so its easier to load up etc on large boards

I ordered in a hexis laminate as they stated all their laminates was suitable for cold laminating, i also do not regularly laminate but still have the need for it occasionaly, i have to admit there was some silvering, but it was a first attempt, does anyone know a REALLY good lamimnate available in the uk especially for cold laminating?

Also slightly off topic i have been looking into a device for cutting foamex(the hour + spent cutting 5mm foamex was spent wondering why i dont have something to make it easier) 🙄

I have been looking at the Javelin Guillotines, i have used one before and thought it was good, but nothing too special, so i looked into them today and was astounded by the price, does anyone have any recomendations for a high quality cutting device?

    many thanks

    John.

We have been doing our homework into this and feel it would be better to get the machine insured rather then a maintenance contract so anything goes (print heads etc) we get it fixed then claim it back, i was told it works out approx £280.00 a year,

Just wondered if anyone on here has it and if anyone knew a company for it

I’m not sure about the price coming down…I haven’t heard about that.

If anyone wants to see an ezytaper working you’re more than welcome to pop into my shop in Bristol for a demo!

There are some demos being planned for later this year as well round the UK, but I’ll put more details as I get them from peter.

The ezytaper is probably as valuable to you as your plotter!

    Cheers
    Joe

    Joe,

Not so much as coming down but i got a call from a rep the other day saying they were on offer, i politely declined as id just bought a digital printer, but now the people who used to do our prints are refusing to laminate for us so need to look out for a new laminator

    Rob,

I understand where you are coming from,
To get round the water running into the recess we was placing a thin airline into one corner of the recess and sucking the air out whilst one followed round heating into the recess,

managed to get up close to a partner we wrapped 6 months ago and it looked fine, having said that if I’m defiantly gonna go it dry when we do ours as its the perfect time for trial and error without having to meet a deadline,

    Many thanks

    thanks for your advice guys,
the third party inks seam like a good idea and if i change now then i wont of had anything to compare/grumble about.

    Dave,
it was a poorly listed item, it was only as a friend emailed me the link i got it, it was listed a wide format printer, without the name in the description, in the description it only had info from a site no history etc.
Also the guy only had 1 feedback, and IMO no-one would want to hand over that sort of cash on a gamble, but as i said a friend knew the guy so it was all good,

    Derek,
Have researched the service contract (shortly after researching replacement heads), and found people was insuring their JV3’s for about £350.00, whenever they had trouble AIT or similar would come and fix it, we pay then claim it back, this saving is approx £1250.00

I put this to AIT and they said they couldn’t guarantee the call out speed etc, i think this may be a slight scare tactic. also we have a company 5 mins down the road we used to use that could help us out while waiting, i know this would mean paying £30 psm but even if it took 3 days it would still pay off with the saving.

    Anyone else considered/taken this up?

    Jitesh.

You are a gent many thanks 😀

Simon, it may help if you say hello and tell us a bit about yourself, before asking for advice.

I have a jv3 and I paid quite a bit more than you did, so all things being equal, why should I help a stranger, who may well be a competitor?

Dont take this the wrong way, its just a bit of friendly advice,

    Peter

    sorry peter,

Fair play , i didn’t notice the say hello forum,

    mine will be up shortly

    Hi Guys,
    Very interesting read about this,
We have wrapped 4 or 5 cars from complete wraps to 50% ones and are getting OK at it, the only downside is the time it takes, its a pretty painful experience but our quotes have been getting ‘more suited’ to the timescale and the quality is getting pretty good too,

I have also heard of a wrapping company in London (who come up top on google) someone i know got them to wrap one of his clients vans for dirt cheap, the quality was terrible and i wouldn’t dream of letting them and what looked like carpet knifes near any van,

I always use KPMF and have no major issues with it, but to be honest haven’t had to do any real tricky vans i.e sprinters etc,

I do use a tiny mist of water (i mean light mist) it just makes it easier to pull up without stretching the print, but we only put the mist on flat panels and none within a couple of inches of any recess, but looking at this i may just give it a go without any juice.

also i am going to completely wrap my trafic in a couple of weeks (have been saying that for a while now)
    😉

i was going to laminate KPMF and go with that but now ive been reading up would anyone recommend this arlon as the right tool for the job?

    cheers guys
