Hi all i need some help !!
i have a load of graphics to cut to size after we have put application tape on them, now i would normally just cut as neat as possible to the finished edge as possible and works fine, however this job needs to look 100% as its being sent out to the customer. I’m looking for either a recommended cutting rule or may be the new image edge???
the decals are just square and i want to make a nice straight cut along the length and width
    many thanks rich

I suppose it depends how big they are Rich, can you not make a template on your work bench ? then just put them all in the same place and cut them ? if they are too long stick them down and measure to the same place all along ??

    hi Lynn
thanks for the reply, the thing is a have seen steel rules for around £100 which i could use, however the image edge looks good but has had a few bad remarks i.e the wobble in between the sections. i need to cut around 1 meter in length but have loads to cut

    any ideas

We bought an Image Edge cutter. It’s good if you only use one section, but
you are correct about the ‘wobbling’ when more than one section is used.
I think it needs a bit of a re-design. Also, the grub screws which are used to
join the sections are hopeless – the heads strip out in no time. We are looking at a Keencut Javelin, which looks more suitable for us.

    Cheers,
    Jamie

You can get a metal ruler from screwfix £4 for a 1 metre.

I’ve had a few steel & ‘safety’ rules over the years. Lost / ruined them all.

Now I use strips of aluminium sheet. Just off-cuts from orders.

    So got a selection to cover ‘every’ job – 600mm, 1300mm & 2500mm!!

Cost, well, nothing and last for years.

ps. I tried a ‘safety’ ruler – but it was pretty pointless as only 500mm.

I would recommend NOT using thin alloy metre ones though as a minor lapse in concentration / rushing to get a job out can lead to a bit of slicing & dicing if the scalpel catches on the edge & jumps up…I cut the tops off middle & index on left hand with a new blade…done the index twice now – was just past the edge of the rule. (nippy sore)

I use a plasterer’s feather edge which was about £20 from screw fix. Use a fine permanent pen to make your mark and you are away.

seen one of them last week in my local hardware store, good and wide and almost a clamp and safe too, looked ideal for the job, they were looking 59 euros for it though, were do screw fix operate from Richard?

    Hi,

For jobs like this we use ‘big yellow’ for cutting graphics its a great piece of kit, its got a great finger protector and is non slip
Hexis supply them and they come in all sizes, 500mm 1000mm 1500mm ranging from £20.00 – $0.00

As i said they cut graphics etc a treat but am looking for something a bit more substantial for cutting foamex so if anyone has any ideas?

    Cheers

If there’s a lot of them…………….make a rectangular shape the ideal size for the supply only graphics………..than make a few holes in the rectangular shape to show through key points in the logo / text…then for each one lay the rectangle over in exactly the same position [visual] and cut around the shape [di-bond] ………..

    might work 😀
