Will i must say a big THANK Q to Ian.

I took a look at the fuse in the "D1" dryer heat pad and one of the 2 did not have any continuity. so as advised as a temp solution i added a small piece of 3amp fuse wire to by pass the fuse. and IT IS WORKING 😀
I can not get the print jobs out on time and the clients will be happy.

Has soon as get the time i will try and find a replacement for the Thermistor fuse so i know i will not damage any other part.

Once that you to UK Sign Boards for the help.

One happy Print Shop owner. 😛

    Hi Ian.
    Thank you for the reply.
I know about the two fuses in each of the D1 and D2 heat pads on the front dryer. But i did not know you could just replace with fuse wire. are they not Thermistor fuses? and would just replacing with fuse wire not put me at risk of blowing some other part at some point.

What rating of fuse wire did you use? and did it work ok after?

If any one knows the rating of the Thermistor in the front dyer pads i will look at finding some and try replacing the ones in the D1 pad.

Thanks to you both. found the sensor and gave it a clean. it did the trick all working fine now. Both roll 1, roll 2 and best of all sheet.

i can not find the difference between roll 1 and roll 2. apart from that it could be to do with the two methods of roll feed.
You can place the roll on the long rollers so the media is just puled through and then hangs down the back when it is puled back. the other is moterised so the media is rolled back on the roll when it go back. i will have to give the two a try and see what the outcome is.

With regards to software, i use Flxi Sign Pro (not long upgraded to latest version) not cheep though. I also use the plug-in to be able to print from Adobe plug-in and freehand.

Just trying to get it to see the registration marks after printing on my solvent printer. this will help as we have a on gong job for labels and the customer needs them printed and cut in 8 size’s. we have been using a guillotine to cut them and it is time consuming.

I am trying to find out if the registration marks are a black spot with a white + or crop marks. i know it is not the solid sizes.

Once again thanks for the pointers.

Thank you for that, It explains what was happening. apart from the F1 (roll 1)
when using the F1 to load the media from the rear with the roll on the drive feed and not on the rollers, the media was about 10cm through the front, all 3 pinch rollers on the media one at each side and one in the center.
press F1 the head comes from the right side, stops at the first roller, moves to the center roller, and then on to the left roller, the head stays there and the media rolls to the back, but dose not stop and falls out the rear of the machine, the main roolers on the bead keep going. The only way to stop this is to lift the pinch rollers. and you the get a media load error. or to turn off the machine.

Any way thank you both for the reply. it will help.

but if you do happen across a copy of the manual please do let me know as it will help. I will also keep looking and if i find one i will post a link for any one who needs it ( as long as the copyright permits).

    Hi Chris.
Thank you for the reply. I know about the print side it was never any good but read about how good a cutter it was, so as it was free i am going to give it a new home i the back office. but it would be nice to have the manual to be able to get the best out of it and to get it setup, at the moment when you come to load the media and you press F1 (Roll 1) the head comes accross as it gets to the left roller the head stops but the media is pulled all the way through and falls out the back and you have to lift the pinch rollers or turn it of to stop it. If i do the same and press F2 (Roll 2) all goes well and the media loads ok the same with the sheet load.

Would just be nice to have the Manual to get the best out of the cutter.

I am just hoping someone can help me out, I am willing to pay for a copy to be posted out to me if anyone as one.

Thank you all for the help the information and the suggestions.
The printer is now back up and running. Had a hard time finding some new E-clips (that hold the bearing in place) as only 2mm.

The only other thing was. Just after 3 days with out the printer running the Black and Magenta were not getting to/through the print head.
So it was clean after clean to get it going.

So any way that you to you all.

(Any one no of a second user Roland print cutter 1600 + for sales)

    Hi Martin.
I have had a good look at the other ones i cannot visually see any wear on them the top of the main rail looks fine as well.
good thing that it was shut down as soon as the noise was heard or it might have damaged the runner on the main rail.
As soon as we get a second solvent printer i will get all 8 replaced. £30.00 ish is better that £1000.0 for a new rail.

    Hi. Chris.
Just got in the office and found your reply.
I have done just that. But found that it is an odd size (as it would be).
But the kind man in the shop did some ringing around; in the end he managed to find the only company in the UK that make that size.
So they will be with me in the morning.

And at only £3.48 = vat

I did get an email from (tech8) and they have the full set (8) for £30 = vat

So i can hopefully get the printer back online in the morning and then play catch-up with the orders. I always said we should have a backup solvent printer.

Thanks to all who gave advice and help. (Very good forum)

    Evening Peter.
Thank you, yes i have contacted them but they thought i was after an head adapter, cross lines in the description i think. i have emailed them again but no reply as yet.

they quoted me 18 $ for the part and 50 $ shipping. for the add apter.

It is the small roller bearing i need that hold the print carriage on the top of the main rail. (what is the odds on getting one without spending £££ for a new carriage and getting it fitted).

    Tony Moore I agree.
It as happened to me as well. And just getting back into the business after a 15 year brake, how things have changed. It was bad then within the general print sector, now it is as bad in the large format sector. I only started up again 11 months ago and have seen the change in customer attitude, you give a price and then you get "how much". They all wont it for cost price, Retail as well as trade and you will always find the printer down the road will do it for less!! HOW they do it i will never know.
Why should the customer dictate the price? i have not yet seen the price of media, inks and fittings come down in price, unless i buy a container full and store it for months, cash flow is bad as it is!

As for the people/customers using my design/artwork, i learned my lesson years ago, i will always put place a copyright tag along the bottom of the proof with our name and PROOF across the images. If the customer is a customer worth working with they will understand why you do this, and they should be able to see past this to review the artwork.

Let’s hope thinks pick up soon, no more stack it high sell it cheap!!!!!!

Thank you for the reply Tim.
I will have to try and track down were the error is. I have found the board under the front bottom cover. all i can do is check the connections.
( do you think i could swop the "D" sensor with the "C" sensor on the board? hopping this would then show a "sensor D Error". Then i would know it is the sensor and not the board. Or it might blow the board!!) that would be my luck today. LOL

If i cannot if a resolve for this i will have to find a local engineer, and hope they do not charge ££££’S
