Im using Sun ink on a bulk system. They guarantee the head… in theory.k

Had a recent service and we noticed that the head is losing a bit of its coating around the blue throwing the nozzles off a bit. Tech said returning to genuine might help rectify this…

You have to decide if its economical for your throughput. If its half the price but the head lasts half as long then its break even.

Ive got a cheap eBay applicator at the minute as im a bit tight for space. Laminating is ok – but I find its best with very little pressure on the first pass at least. Anything heavier and it starts to ripple.
I applied some boards yesterday – then laminated after…. possibly a big no no… but the results were decent!

I was wondering if Flexi might have something similar… Where you have to essentially tell it that it can cut your 6 inch circle – but the reg marks tell it that the vinyl is only 6in x 6in

In finecut there is an option to detect marks before pressing the Cut button. When you click this is limits the artboard to the size of the reg marks and then it knows where to plot within the marks. This is after you have told the mimaki to search for the marks with the laser.

If you don’t do this it – the plotter just starts cutting where the blade is (probably about 3-5mm out of line…)

Thanks for the response. I’ve wasted a load of material today and after a bit of messing about I decided to change the media thickness to thick – and also rejigged the artwork so I could fit 2 (menu boards) side by side. This seems to have helped and the prints came off great.
I think the dampness is a definite problem.

In the past I have made the paper template to start. Then I scribble across it with a couple of coloured markers, before scanning it in in sections. The scribble helps alignment in illustrator. The scanner means no perspective issues from the camera.
