    Hi all,

Recently purchased a Mimaki CJV150-160 after trading in the VG640 .. question is what ink are people using?

The genuine ink is approx £90+VAT for 440ml .. extortionate ..

I’m looking at other alternatives, with many available.. (I am aware the warranty will void)

SunChemical, Colorific, Colormagic, Daemon, and many others..

Any reviews of what people have used and any issues etc would be very helpful.

    Thanks.

After trying several different 3rd party inks, my advice would be DON’T DO IT. Try Adapt for the Mimaki ink.

+1 to that comment…. sorry 3rd party inks just isn’t worth it in the long run.

    Stick with OEM inks.
I knackered a JV3 over 2 years by using a well known alternative.
You shouldn’t be paying more than £80 per ink btw.

Our Mimaki is approx 7 years old, bout new and converted to Colourmill ink after just 3 months.

Still on the same head. Prints 4 days out of 5. We went to Thailand in January, no special treatment, just did a power clean and it was ok

We also use it in our jv3, which we just use for banners

Im using Sun ink on a bulk system. They guarantee the head… in theory.k

Had a recent service and we noticed that the head is losing a bit of its coating around the blue throwing the nozzles off a bit. Tech said returning to genuine might help rectify this…

You have to decide if its economical for your throughput. If its half the price but the head lasts half as long then its break even.

One things for sure – if you use a third party ink you will at some stage be covered in it. Stick with the genuine cartridges if you can afford to (but check the dates!)
