    quote Kevin Mahoney:

Thankfully we haven’t encountered this paint yet, something to bear in mind when asked to do full wall coverage though. The installation I saw a while back was done with neat pva being brushed on & vinyl was fitted before it was even tacky. Didn’t see it after drying but job looked dreadful. Be interested to see what the finished install looked like when dried out

We roller it on we never brush it on large walls and wait for it to dry or go back the next day not had a problem yet.

    Yep had the same problem
Fitted some wall graphics in sheffield for another sign company everything seemed ok but by the time I got home
half of it just fell off. Did cause a bit of a stink eveything was my fault of course :shake:

If its a complete wall coverage we always pva the wall first its not worth the risk as we don’t digitally print ourselves so the
cost of getting it all done again is not worth the risk.

To be honest we use Ashby or Nova don’t think the price would be much cheaper for the frame so that £200 sounds about right. Where you might come a cropper is the fitting a cherry picker is very expensive compared to a tower or ladders unless
it’s definitely needed for access or safety etc.
We would always use a tower up to about 6 meters platform height.

On these jobs we tend do things slightly different stick £50 on the frame usual on panel and graphics about 15%
As for fitting if its a brick wall its always good to drill the frame off first so your not using too many drills or changing drill bits evey 2 min. If everything goes to plan and fitting is ok something like that should only be a mornings work at most
Panatrim frames are very easy to fit. You might need to scew join the panels together or panel locks. If the panels are not locked they can blow out in very strong winds.

    Good Luck.

Years ago I used to go out every sunday and evenings and do a leaflet drop. All the industrial estates, supermarkets and BQ carparks etc. Infact everywhere, not sure how many I actually dished out in total must of been thousands. But it slowly began to pay off then word of mouth and so on. Then I posted some with a business card to the bigger companies and again it began to pay off.

Things have changed abit but if I was starting out again I would do the same thing sometimes you just got to get off your ass away from your computer and make things happen. If you have been doing it for a while along side a full time job then
at least you have the foundations.

We get this quite allot especially in winter and only mostly with the cut down logs. We use conform R4050 so not a really cheap one. I think it happens mostly in transit most delivery guys tend to throw these things around and even with the
protection its easy for the outer bit to get dented. You just got to be really careful when pulling it out from your roller
we have to slow it right down but it’s really annoying.

Seen some of his youtube videos and to be honest you have to hand it to them they certainly seem to be making some serious money very quickly. And they are very popular and it all looks so easy 😆 Beats standing on top of a tower in freezing rain trying to fit a shop front trying to get the old one down full of rusted screws.

We had one recently the overall Invoice amount was for £750. The customer asked for 30 days which I was happy to give
because we had done lots of work for him before which he always settled quickly. This time very different lots of excuses
blah blah blah. 60 days later I was getting abit stressed out with it sending various e-mails, letters with no reply.

Started looking into the small claims, collection agencies etc when he finally returned my call said he would send two post dated cheques for £375. To be fair one arrived which we banked and it did clear but never saw the the other one and to be honest that made me more mad. But we later herd he had infact gone tits up very soon after our cheque cleared owing
    various amounts.

So in a nutshell we were lucky to get half our money I remembered he had a very young family and to be honest he overstretched himself and just had to much on finance. I actually emailed him wishing him the best of luck for the future
I just kept thinking about his family it’s not nice he never paid the full amount but it was obvious he just could not pay
not like the ones who can and take the piss.

Having been in the sign trade from school and im now over 50 🙁
Starting when there was not a plotter in sight and everything had to be painted and hand cut things have certainly changed.
I have had my ups and downs and made mistakes but you live and learn but I have never fell out of love with the trade
I just can’t keep up with the many changes and the latest this and that.

But I just can’t see myself retiring but I certainly have scaled down so I think you have made the right decision not to pack it in completely. Maybe you should keep hold of your gear for a while just in case, put it in safe storage. It would be expensive
to replace if you changed your mind.

We have the vinyl master XPT V4.0 for about 3 years now for us its great for design and scanning things.
But I must admit I still use an old omega for cutting just need to convert it to AI and send it over for the omega to cut it.

    Hi

We have 10mm toughened glass on top of MDF 2900mm x 1500mm so a large piece and very heavy! To be honest we were very lucky it came out of a bank which they were actually going to throw away so cost us nothing hate to think how much it would be to buy. Infact they had two the same size the other one went into the skip I think. Obviously the down side is blunting the blades very quickly but really great for cutting.

    Hi Guys

Yes it’s quite surprising just how far they are out on the length and height of the panels on the vans. Like someone else has
posted I always measure the van then after a while you build up your own files on the sizes of the artwork etc.

It is frustrating but they are a great help also, especially for artwork for the customer to see and not over expensive to buy.
