Ah right, well yeah it’s off their swatch. The backing on the vinyl is blank though? lol

Thanks for the kind comments all 🙂

I spent 8 hours Saturday and 6 hours Sunday doing it. Could have been quicker but didn’t want to rush it

It wasn’t Avery. APS have launched their own wrapping film. It’s brand new and I was the first to use it as a customer, a guinea pig then lol

And yeah I did the wrap solo, nobody fancied spending two days with me LOL

    Cheers all

    Matt

P.S a few people have asked where they had it done. Already got another two wraps to do lol. At first I didn’t even want to attempt it but the first one was for a mate, so the pressure was off, so to speak! Bow I cant wait to wrap some more, and get on a course 🙂

She’s nagged me a while ago for it, saw your thread and it reminded me!

Sorry to go off topic, but… what vinyl do you use for the wall art? My other half wants me to make her a wall quote, will normal Avery vinyl do the job?

    Cheers,

I know what you mean mate, but I really cant think of the name! I was thinking about getting one but never got round to it.

What I usually do is when I take the backing paper off, I roll it up and use that as an extra support, works just the same for smaller jobs, not sure what it would be like with a wrap though!

Thanks Neil. I spoke to a mate of mine that works for Sign Rite, he does wraps in his sleep and he also advised me on using 3M.

I’m having a swatch delivered tomorrow so I will meet with my customer and he can choose which colour he prefers 🙂

    Thanks!

How much vinyl do you think I would need for this wrap? Just an estimate? I will measure it over the weekend 🙂

Thanks again for the all the advice guys. You’ve prevented a lot of head scratching on my part!

I will await these samples, have a play around and see what I find easier.

When I have been helping on wraps, or doing bonnets, roofs etc we always used to use KPMF VWS, but to be honest I really didn’t think it was that great, compared to the small amount of times I used an Avery or 3M product.

Does anyone else feel that way about KPMF? I always find their range rather "cheapo"?

    Hi Jon,

I spoke to them this morning, they have recently started to offer wrap vinyls. I have used them since day 1 of me trading, for all my vinyl and supplies and have good repor with them.

They are watchign swatches made up of all the wrap films they can offer 🙂

    Thanks John.

I have just spoken to Glen at All Print Supplies and he is sending me out a good few samples of different wrapping vinyl, so I can have a play around with them and see which I find easier. I have bought a load of cleaning stuff, which I use even on the simplest of jobs, can’t stand dirt on vans and cars!

The customers unit is 3 down from mine, so they will remove all rubbers, mirrors, handles etc, so less obstacles in the way!

Thanks for the help John, and the comment on the design, I love it 🙂

I’ve got a meeting with an accountant this week, so I’ll see what they think I should do, for the financial side.

Also Gary, that’s another big reason I’m considering it, don’t want to be left liable if anything were to happen.

Have you tried to send a job to cut not using bluetooth? Bluetooth doesnt really hold up a strong connections, plug in the USB and see how it goes.

If it still doesn’t work, let me know.

    Hi.

You should introduce yourself, and let us know a bit about who you are, and what you do! 🙂

What software are you using? If you let me know I’ll be able to help you with this.

At the moment I’ve been doing the books myself, but have been looking into whether staying as a sole trader or not…

I’ll ring around and find a good accountant on monday, and take it from there 🙂

Thanks for your answers lads 🙂

I have never really done a full wrap, just a few bonnets, roofs etc.

I have seen full printed wraps being fitted many times, and I think what they do is as half inch overlap, that way it can all be aligned easily.

As I said, I’m not the best person to give advice on this subject, but a lot of people here will be able to help 🙂

Hope it all goes well, good luck!

    Hi Dave,

Basically I’m in an estate for new businesses, with all the mod cons, so I only pay £10 for my fibreoptic broadband, since it’s shared I dont need a landline, so I run my VoIP phone through my computer 🙂

If you need I can point you in the direction of my supplier?

I’m so glad I don’t deal with a phone provider for my landline, they are forever ripping people off and not providing the service that they should!

For my mobile I have gone with T-Mobile business and have had an Sony Xperia S off them, with some brilliant perks in the package, cheaper than anywhere else I looked, and their support is top notch aswell!

With my landline, all of mine is run through VoIP, and it runs like a dream, and you don’t need to pay high prices on line rental either 🙂

Both the blue and grey sections can also be popped out, which they do when a unit is available to rent, if that’s any help? (?)

    Hi Martin,

Thanks very much for your reply. I’m not exactly a salesman either but I’ll try as you said 🙂

In the years I’ve been working for the company I have never signed a contract or disclaimer. I wouldn’t poach their customers anyway, it’s not my style, and I have respect for them, since they gave me a chance and taught me everything I know 🙂

    Hi Rob,

Cheers for the reply mate, really appreciate it 🙂

I did see a lot of sellers on Facebook, but steered away when they didn’t even say who the manufacturer of the product was!

I’m not that concerned about support. Where I work now, we have a Roland SC-540, Fastrack Plotter, Gerbe Edge 2 with Cutter. If anything goes wrong I’m usually the one that fixes them and puts the new parts. So as long as I can get new parts for the machine then I’m not too bothered.

Once again, thanks for taking the time to reply!

    Hi Neil,

Thanks for the warm welcome! Where abouts are you based, and what’s your company called? I may know you lot!

Ive been working on my pricing structure and will buy that sign pricing guide. The last thing I want to do is annoy the local sign companies!

    Thank you Both!

    Martin,

I’ve read around, and you all seem a friendly (maybe a bit loopy) bunch! Think I will fit right in around here!

I understand where you’re coming from, and that’s what I was going to do. However, in my area there are only a few sign makers, and they’re pretty much family run, with no vacancies there.

With regards to rent etc, I’m lucky to have parents they will be able to help me out with my bills etc if I am to find myself short. As I said, there’s only a few sign makers around here so I really think I can fit in to the local market. Without wanting to talk badly about other companies, but I feel I can do a better job, and I’m not too bad at marketing either.

    Matt
