Experience with Signwizard?
Posted by Matt Taylor on June 3, 2012 at 8:24 pmHi All,
If some of you read my topic in off-topic you’d see that I’m about to take the leap and go self employed.
As it stands I can’t afford a plotter like a Roland, Mimaki etc, so I’m looking for something imported, which will ofcourse be Chinese. I know they are no where near as good as your main branded plotters. I have worked in a signwriters for many years with Rolands and Gerbers so I know what they are capable of.
I have come across Signwizard.co.uk who seem to be selling quite a few different plotters, has anyone used these before, and more importantly used the plotters they advertise?
Thanks in advance,
Matt

i haven’t any experience with the Chinese machines, but the growing trend of purchasers having sleepless nights speaks for itself.
i am sure once you understand there is zero level of phone support, and you slowly begin to understand the Chinese instruction manual things will get easier. :lol1:to be fair, had a look at the website and if they are uk based then you at least have some form of phone support, which the ebay sellers dont offer. although i did raise a smile and a shake of the head when i also saw they sell Jewellery, garden products and pet supplies??? 😕
SignWizard "the name at least" has been in the uk sign industry for a number of years. but from memory i think more software based, but i could be wrong. in fact, it may not even be the same company, just the domain has changed hands.
sorry, not being very helpful here, just saying it how i see it mate.

Hi Rob,
Cheers for the reply mate, really appreciate it 🙂
I did see a lot of sellers on Facebook, but steered away when they didn’t even say who the manufacturer of the product was!
I’m not that concerned about support. Where I work now, we have a Roland SC-540, Fastrack Plotter, Gerbe Edge 2 with Cutter. If anything goes wrong I’m usually the one that fixes them and puts the new parts. So as long as I can get new parts for the machine then I’m not too bothered.
Once again, thanks for taking the time to reply!

All comes down to what your budget is, try ringing UK suppliers and tell them what your budget is…………..if they can do a deal they will for used / new or otherwise say they can’t.

Thanks Nigel.
Would you guys be able to help me out? The company I was working for used to use you quite a bit, so I know you’re on the ball.

I agree totally with Rob. Pay the extra and get going. I spent many an evening playing around with serial to USB convertor leads and severl drivers. Changed countless settings etc to no avail.
The only way I could get one working was to purchase a new board which was direct USB with drivers and only then did I make it work by adjusting some settings until it worked. I could not tell you how I did it :lol1:
Wish I had just bought a Roland.
