having some Hollandese friends, i might have to cheer on the carrotts, that’ll probably be the death of their chances if i do though!
i just want to see a good clean game now to be honest, not overly worried who wins as both teams haave done well and exceeded expecations (of other countries) so good luck to the both of them!

Good game last night, Spain were on fire in the second half, and wouldn’t surprise me if they went on to win.
I can’t believe I have been saying a Spain v Holland final all along…:)Nice to see there will be a new winner as neither team has won the WC.
What does the octopus say for the final G? then can it choose me some lottery numbers…..

Spain did to Germany what I thought the Dutch would do……..but I don’t think Spain will win unless they find their scoring boots, just not incisive enough I think. Young Cruz could have so easily ended the Spanish dream in the second half. Fascinating duel though. Germany where aiming to have this team ready by 2012 which is scary! The European Championships will be some pie shoot!

Anyways… It’s been a good bit of fun and the prizes are:

yeah, the first half was awful! 😕 Listening to the BBC commentary – in particular Alan hanson, I must have missed something throughout this tournament because according to him Spain played fantastic football throughout and were better than anyone else. OK, they won, but up until the semis Germany were bar far playing better. Or am I missing something? 😮

Not a good game, usual for the final. Watching the Dutch in the first half was like watching Argentina in the 1990 Final against the Germans….should have had 3 red cards.The German and Uruguay game for 3rd place should have been the final..great game.
Any way results are:
1st: Spain.. Me 😀 The £50 I will donate to ‘Andrew Boyle’s Snail Trail’ charities. But I will have and treasure the sign from Jill.
2nd: Netherlands..Kevin Flowers, £50 of Grafityp consumables
3rd: Germany..Warren Beard, £25 cheque
4th: Uruguay..Hugh Potter..I will give Hugh £25 worth of digi print,(didn’t really have a 4th prize Hugh so a small conselation)

Well Done Martin, deserved win for Spain…..dunno what the Dutch where at….plenty of football in them and they choose to play like that! Still think that Spain are not prolific enough at goalscoring….they seem to need a 100 chances to get one goal.

I was disappointed to see Netherlands lose, having Hollandaise friends, I was supporting them once Uruguay went out, i missed the first 65 mins and, with it -from seeing the highlights- most of the naughty stuff.
in hindsight, I don’t think Netherlands deserved it, not playing like that. the Spanish weren’t exactly innocent mind!
the ref… pretty good though i did think he missed a few fairly obvious fouls / made some poor decisions, i guess it’ll always be like that!
I so wish that football would adopt the same "3rd official" and instant replays on important decisions as in rugby. 10 min sin bins for divers and those committing deliberate fouls etc, i’m sure it would make for a much more enjoyable game. I spent the last half hour swearing and shouting at the tv, mainly in disgust at the way the players from both sides argued with various decisions. I really wish i could see beyond all the messy stuff as i used to enjoy watching football!
anyways, well done Spain and, Well done Martin for the win!
