I’m hoping that there will be slightly less of an overbearing dominance of printer suppliers this year.

As for freebies, I’m going for plotter blades. I like a challenge. Either that or a free laser engraving machine. What do you think my chances are? 😀

    Hi big G,

There are quite a few printer suppliers at the show but don’t let that worry you, LED, specialist vinyl and framing suppliers etc. are holding their ground.

I didn’t manage to find any free blades bit I did get a free laser engraver !!!! It’s amazing what gets thrown in when you buy a couple of pieces of engraved wood and perspex 😉

    Enjoy the show.

Found the show a little dissappointing this year. Beginnining to think a visit every second year is definately enough to keep up with new products. Did anyone wonder why so many machines were lying idle. Can’t really see the point in going to the bother of exhibiting machines with reams of paper just hanging from them

They’re waiting for the rest of us to arrive Kevin 😉 :lol1:

I’m not overly fussed what the sign show is all about, there are a few things I want to get more info on, but most of the equipment I’ve been toying with buying has been pretty much sorted by ppl I know from the boards. I’m more interested in meeting the ppl from here, watching the wrapping demos and being charged extortionate amounts to sit and drink beer 😀

Mark, is Lee staying over for another day? I was looking forward to meeting him! 🙁

The highlight to me will be meeting my all-time number one motoring journalist, the man who can lose a girlfriend at 30 yards but gain a friend in a small dibond salesman. 🙄

Ah but you see, I’ve had me barnet cut so now I look like plain old George Clooney.

I don’t have to tell tales about fictional girlfriends either – she’s got an IV sedation course to go to, so isn’t coming. Probably needs it, living with me!

I’ll try my best to look like Keith Flint, honest I will! 😀

We all believed you about the girlfriend though mate, sure okay, so nobody actually saw her… okay, so she was busy watching a wrapping demo at the other side of the exhibition hall… and yes, we all accept that she needed to leave early and you were going to catch her up. There was never any question she was there though 🙄 🙄

You managed the first bit of that with me though, no problems! :lol1:

Blimey, I still remember that, I’m busy looking over some products and the light suddenly disappeared as I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned, looked up about a metre and there you were! 😮 Pete recognises you instantly, and I’m stood there with this “WTF are you then?” :lol1: :lol1:

You staying for a beer this year then?

I’ll try to stay around a bit longer but no beer unfortunately. I need to keep my licence in order to continue driving around sticking overpriced stickers on shops. Also, the entire population of Northamptonshire decided that they NEEDED signs fitting on Thursday, so I’ll be working when I get back.

I only wanted the fictional girlfriend to come so she could drive me home. Bloody NHS and their ‘making people qualified to do the job safely’ nonsense.

I got back earlier this evening and my feet are bloody killing me!
Saw a few faces from here; some I’ve seen before and some new ones. It was good fun to meet up, and especially nice to see Niknak had travelled the 10 million miles down from Haggis land. I see Dewi hasn’t posted yet tonight. I expect he’s still leaning against the Grafityp stand holding a bottle of beer!

Hi Big G, sorry we didn’t get chance to talk at the show but to be honest i wasn’t quite 100% sure it was you talking to Dewi.
Just looking at your picture on your last post i can see why i wasn’t sure. You are actually a lot taller than i expected & that is because i can now see that you have taken your own picture from arms length with the camera looking down at yourself. (gives the impression that you are only a little southerner) but in reality your are as big as me!
Anyway i do apologies i will make it up to you next time mate OK!

Colin had a few I think. In fact, I would go so far as to say he was as p1ssed as a fart.

I got info on a few suppliers. You can never have too many sources for stuff. So I achieved what I set out for. And I got a guitar.

Isn’t Nik ickle? I was expecting her to be about 6 feet tall. As for John (Alpha Sign), let’s have an avatar picture from this century, shall we John? 😉

We should all change our Avatars’ to animated .gifs with two different images…one we want people to perceive us looking like and the other one the “real” picture. Kind of like the Matrix where your view of yourself is different than in the “real” world. (mine is definately the “real” picture, still doctoring up the modeling pictures)

Got to admit though, the vast majority of ppl were recognisable, I knew who they were before they said a word. In Big G’s case though, I couldn’t help feeling like I was in a Top Gear episode as he raved on about his Mazda and his imaginary girlfriend! :lol1:

I thought Nik was brilliant, but I was shocked that she wasn’t taller… mind you, I thought John Childs was shorter! He’s a giant!! 😮

    Hi All

Spent two days there. At long last we met Mark & Duncan from Lasable on the Tuesday. Was nice to see them after talking to them for so long only on the phone.

Highlight of Wednesday, was meeting Robert, Peter, Nik, Big G, Paul & Jules and the rest of the those UKSignboard members who turned up and of course Dewi.

    ‘Look, it’s Lee Harris……..with CJ………it’s your birthday today………..is that a tiger print you’ve got’……….it’s Ground hog day…..

Good show. Seemed a little smaller than last year or is it just me. We all had a good couple of days.

Lastly, thanks to Jobe from CJ for the print.

Did any body find out when next years show is??

Dewi: CJ just can’t stop talking about you………poor girl

Was great meeting you mate, when Mark (Lasabledps) said he’d seen you on the Tuesday, I thought I’d missed you! 🙁 Say Hi to CJ for me and I didn’t catch the name of your other daughter, but please say Hi to her as well 😀

Planning next year already though, you are keen!

Forgot to thank Peter Normington as well, he knows what for! 😀 I’m saving it for the weekend Peter, but very very much appreciated! 😀

sorry to have missed you all yesterday, all the best laid plans and all…
good to see you all had a good time anyway.

got a brief look over there today, wasnt over impressed, nothing new so to speak.

i agree with what was said here earlier regarding the wrap demo’s.
smart/mini cars arent the hardest to do, now if someone appeared next time around with a sprinter van full wrap demo i would be impressed!

what the hell was a certain vinyl distributor/wrap training company doing with a dodgy looking ‘look-a-like’ as their main attraction or promotional campaign?
too cheesy for me, the proof of the pudding i guess was in the quality of the wraps….
on that note i’ll say goodnight

Nice to see Nikapic, you should change your avatar I was frightened of you until I met you.

Spent 4 hours or so at the show on Wednesday (7 hours driving!) and have to say I didn’t recognise any of you from your photos! Although I suppose that’s fair as I haven’t got round to posting one myself.

Had a brilliant chat with David Evans at Cadlink and was dead chuffed to see they have incorporated virtually all my requests into 7.1 – (I really do believe of all the software I have ever owned Cadlink have given the best support)

Bought a new Summa plotter at knock down price with a load of bits thrown in.

Think I may have found an alternative supplier of copier vinyl (fingers crossed)

So all in all, a result! just a shame about the ******* M25

Just one question to all you Cadet owners – how do you put up with the smell? I was getting high just standing next to one watching it print!
