    hi

I bet they cost an arm and a leg though,

I import marine canvas tools from the USA often cheaper than you can buy them here, americans are easier to deal with too and dont add on 500% profit..

    hi

i do almost no signs at all, but i did see on an american web site a rubber flap wheel that removes vinyl from almost any surface including body panels and windows in seconds.

it fits in a drill and spins the rubber flaps over the vinyl lifting it in one operation..

would be a good investment if you do a lot..

    hiya

I can’t offer advise about plotters as i’m still a plotter virgin, BUT

    I do know a little about Joy’s.

The owner mainly sells sewing machines which yet again are cheap Chinese copies of Brother machines. Joy’s sell cheap rubbish and you really are getting what you pay for.

I have a Joy’s sewing machine and a Singer and a juki, the other 2 are very expensive and well known brands and i use them both all the time. The joy’s machine never gets used anymore because its just a pain and nobody wants to buy it because of its reputation so its a emergency machine only and a great dust collector.

I can only assume that anything else Joy’s sells is the same quality, incidentally several companies are suing Joys because of her selling copies of regular brands..

    I hope this helps

yup, a stencil and Ink sounds like a really good idea

except I have no idea what you are talking about hehehe..

i get the principle but have no idea where to get the ink and is the stencil cut on the plotter ?

    Hiya

That sounds like the stuff i need, would you know if its expensive ?
I don’t need huge amounts but it will be used in a marine environment so has to be good.

    hiya

I just do the odd boat name here and there so a box of scraps would help me out no end..

    nudge nudge

i must say though I am a qualified D+T teacher and school donations are invaluable to some schools, a small problem can occur if they ask you for COSHH information for the materials as some may not want to accept scraps without it..

There are reasons for this but you haven’t got the time …

    hi

Don’t get me wrong, i’m not too concerned if i cant cut my fabrics or other stuff etc this way i was just wondering really if i could get a bit more use out of the machine.

Most of the time it just sits there until i need a sign or boat name etc as my main work is sewing marine canvas.

but cutting letters from pvc would be handy..

It would be good to have a list of materials that could be cut on a standard plotter don’t you think ?

Because I sew for a living there are a ton of jobs I could cut out on the plotter if it is capable of doing it.

Vinyl patterns for car seats or cushion material or letter shapes to sew onto boat covers and lots more..

Do you know of software that will leave tabs on the cut edge ?
