Digital Creative Services Sets UK Benchmark with First HP Latex R530 Hybrid Installation

Digital Creative Services (London) Limited (DCS) has set a new industry benchmark by becoming the UK’s first adopter of the HP Latex R530 hybrid printer. This strategic investment reinforces DCS’s commitment to delivering market-leading sustainable print solutions for discerning clients.

Based in London’s Royal Victoria Dock, adjacent to the ExCeL Exhibition Centre, DCS provides comprehensive digital and lithographic print services to a diverse client base, including leading global beauty brands, financial institutions, sports organisations, and educational institutions.

Under the direction of Managing Director Barry Page and Co-Owner Dave Gibbons, who acquired DCS in June 2020, the company has executed a dynamic growth strategy. Over the past five years, DCS has successfully integrated multiple businesses and invested continually in new technology to broaden its service offering and production capabilities.

The latest investment in the HP Latex R530, supplied by authorised HP distributor Papergraphics and commissioned in April 2025, exemplifies this forward-thinking approach. As a true hybrid solution, the HP Latex R530 delivers production speeds up to 24 sq m/hr (indoor mode) on substrates up to 1.6m wide and 5cm thick. DCS specified the advanced white ink model, ensuring the flexibility to meet evolving customer demands and complex print applications.

The R530’s compact footprint and seamless switch between rigid and flexible media unlock new opportunities in wide-format print, from high-impact signage, wall coverings, and vehicle graphics to POS, packaging, and exhibition displays. Its robust feature set, including automated ink recirculation, printhead cleaning, intuitive touchscreen interface, and remote workflow control via HP PrintOS Production Hub, maximises uptime and operational efficiency while reducing maintenance.

Crucially, the HP Latex R530 leverages water-based HP Latex inks, enabling DCS to deliver vibrant, durable output with significantly reduced environmental impact compared to solvent, eco-solvent, or UV-curable alternatives. The ability to print on recyclable media further supports circular economy initiatives, addressing the growing demand for environmentally responsible print production.

Barry Page emphasises that sustainability is not just a value-add but a core principle at DCS:

“Investing in the HP Latex R530 aligns perfectly with our ISO 14001 Environmental Management commitments and our clients’ sustainability objectives. Our aim is to continually push the boundaries of responsible print, both through our material choices and technology investments.”

The R530 will primarily support the production of freestanding exhibition display boards, a strategic growth area identified by DCS. Additional applications will include bespoke office décor and window manifestations, with the enhanced quality and sustainable credentials of the HP Latex platform expected to drive both client retention and new business acquisition.

Looking ahead, DCS remains proactive in its technology roadmap.

“If we achieve our growth targets over the next 12 months, we are already considering the HP Latex FS50 as our next step,” Page confirmed.

With its investment in the HP Latex R530, DCS continues to lead by example in sustainable, high-performance print innovation.
