Hi looking for assistance, (!) anybody got an edge 2 that has came up with an z access error when switching on, if so how did you clear it without the hefty call out charge from gerber. (?)

    Thanks frank

I got this message a few times on the 380 gerber plotter. The engineer told me to blow compressed air into the blade holding thingy because it was a build up of dust, and it worked every time. Something to do with a dirty solenoid, or summat. You could try giving everything a good clean, in case it’s something simple like this.

this does work… i remember many moons ago when we had a gerber 4b.
twice it broke down… call out charge was £250 and £50 every hour after…
1st time was a fuse in the plug. :banghead:
2nd time was dust in the machine :banghead:

£500 later we had a new fuse and a dust free machine

Ooh, I’ve just remembered. There is some kind of key press sequence that will reset the edge. I don’t know it but I’m sure they can tell you what to do on the phone, which has got to be better than paying 11 squillon quid for a call out.

    Cheers Guys
😉 will give both a go, fingers crossed 😉
Hourly rate has gone up to £75 ph.
Good having all this knowledge on the boards, saves small companies paying a fortune for blowing out dust.

Mind you I might ask gerber if there any jobs going for blowing out dust.
    Thanks Frank
