just had a call from the telesales rep – I guess now I live in the country my £1000 a year doesn’t warrant a call from the rep anymore.

had to admire her use of scripted diatripe and phrases, interspersed with my helpful comments when prompted words like depressing dull boring etc

is it me I’m loosing the will to live :hung: yell.com wise

anyone else excited by them and their innovations 😕

Please don’t mention "yell" to me at the moment. Just received a lovely letter saying that if I didn’t pay my account they would take further action, including courts/baliffs.

Due to a move in premises I cancelled my yearly order, in May, by post. They are insisting they didn’t receive the cancellation so printed the previous advert. So I’m now going to have to pay over £400 (which includes a 20% good will gesture) to advertise my old premises and obsolete telephone number. $%*& 👿

Yell.com….does nothing that typing in SIGNS and a CITY into google or yahoo (for example) won’t achieve…

Not even worth the free entry IMHO!

But if you say you didn’t receive their threatening letter they will insist you received it and tell you this is no excuse. 👿

Ignore them and if they continue to hassle you tell them that you will not give into blackmail, you canceled it, you have a copy of the letter you sent them and if they continue to bother you you will take them them to court for harassment and deformation of character etc. They tried this with us once. We no longer use them.

Stand your ground John against the bullying tactics of companies like Yell. There is NO WAY I’d pay that demand.

yeh, I was bullied by yellow pages…I was not happy and told them I would let all of my contacts know of the treatment I was getting from them, they withdrew and would never recommended them or yell.com to anyone….you get a free line in there anyhow….

Be very careful if you ignore them.

Different I know but we had an electric bill at our old unit that was in dispute with British Gas, I even got the energy ombudsmen involved. That didn’t stop British gas putting the bailiffs onto us.

I ended up paying the £800 bill and drawing a line under it. These bully boy tactics stink and I just didn’t have the time or the energy to fight them.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

    Cheers

agree with Mr Rogers, it’s not worth the money in my opinion, most people I know use Google.
I just put my free one in and am leaving it at that.

Thanks for all your replies and i’m sorry for hijacking your thread John. Been thinking about this for a while now and decided to bite the bullet and pay up. I’ve got new premises and can’t afford to allow Baliffs to turn up – not a good sign or advertisement in a new area.

Its my own silly fault really as I should have either sent the letter recorded or checked up to make sure they received the cancellation. I had that much on my plate with organising the move that I took it for granted that the letter reached them and it was cancelled.

Expensive mistake but you live and learn 😕
