I have to do some wide single coloured graphics on the top of a yacht, and the cabin line curves to the front of the boat but also verticlly, with two Bl**dy windows in the middle.

Looking for the best way to do this, start at the thick end and work along to the point, or hing from the middle?

Thought Cheryl would be able to advise being the boaty sticker person 😀

    Thanks

    Hi Dave,
sorry I didn’t see this earlier.

I personally would apply the widest part first. I like to get rid of the bulk of material.

Depending on the size of the yacht, I also make small pencil marks where the top stripe goes and work along and downwards from there.

If I’m fitting stripes between windows, I always cut the vinyl in chunks slightly larger than I need and then carefully cut and work into the windows.

What sort of yacht is it Dave, It sounds a bit like a Beneteau.

If you’re fitting by hanging over the side – be careful you don’t lose your small change. :lol1:

    Good luck,
    Cheryl 😀

Hi Cheryl it is a Westerley about 34′ and it is not the boat sides but the cabin sides I am doing. The graphic is actually wider than the window so I was hoping to apply in one piece but it is 5m long, something like 350mm wide at the cockpit tapering to a point.

    Cheers

    Hi Dave,

    Nice boat.

I’d still use a marker, hinge the widest part of it and apply wet to slid into position. The thinner edge is easier to handle and apply by eye.

    All the best,
    Cheryl
